It's all in the details....and the bride's vision! This bride knew exactly what she wanted from floral accessories to a 'no color' color palette to a mirrored aisle, and May Carlson Fine Art Photography captured every bit of it perfectly! A Simple Taste of Elegance pieced together exactly what the bride envisioned for her magical wedding day, and Vintage Bouquet helped those dreams come true with a floral crown and cuffs - accessories that made this 18th century inspired garden party come to life! Check it out below, and take note of the brides TWO stunning gowns!

From the Bride...We met in late 2014, we both worked in the Cardiothoracic ICU. He is a critical care nurse and me, a Respiratory Therapist. I noticed him first, a nurse that took his job so very seriously and cares for his patients like he would his own mother. Our first date was at the Pearl Brewery in San Antonio, Texas. After two years of dating, we flew to Portland Maine to chase waterfalls and catch lobsters. On July 24th, 2017 we took a day-long waterfall tour. It was our last stop, Angel Falls. We hiked up the beautifully scenic Mountain Brook, crossed multiple mountain streams. When we made it to the top, we faced the set of plunging waterfalls and he proposed. It was intimate and very well planned. We enjoyed our 2 and half year engagement with lots of traveling and lots of food. We married on March 7th, 2020.

My Vision:
A Catherine the Great 18th Century Garden Party. An outdoor wedding with a String Quartet playing Classical Music was a must.

Color Palette:
I preferred to not have a "color palette" per se, I requested neutrals, I only wanted colors that naturally occur in nature. I had complete trust in my florist, she had the freedom to create as she pleased.

Style Vision:
ELEGANT TIMELESS GLAMOUR. My hope is when these photos resurface after many years, the style will not be affected by the passage of time.

Unique elements:
Mirror Aisle which was a custom creation. 8ft width x 40ft Length (my Victor Harper Couture Ceremony Gown was quite large).
Flower wall for our Ceremony and Mini Flower wall for our Cake table.
Floral baby's breath Arm cuffs
Floral baby's breath Halo inspired by Cicely Tyson
Milk glass centerpieces which I handpicked for each table, no duplicates. These were given away to family as gifts.
My Victor Harper Couture Ceremony Gown had 3 beautiful shades of brown tulle incorporated in the skirt.
String quartet for the Ceremony and Reception.

Coco Chanel said, "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off."
I think I know where this is going but I'll wait for more photos.

You're right..from a style POV, she could've removed 2 things.

My favorite moment:
Walking down the mirror aisle to the sound of the String quartet. So many emotions!

Favorite crafted detail:
Mirror aisle/Floral wall/Arm cuffs - I can't choose just one!

Flowers:
Blush Ranunculus, Soft Blue Tulips, Cherry Blossoms, Sweet Peas, Blush Garden Roses.

Gown:
Ceremony- Victor Harper Couture - satin strapless mermaid gown with draped and jeweled bodice and jaw-dropping layered multi-colored tulle train. Reception- Marchesa Notte with 3D whimsical flowers and tulle overlay, minor alterations were made.

Favors:
My Husband's Aunt owns a Taiwanese bakery, she made us her famous mini pineapple cakes for our guests to take home!

Cake:
A 3-layer Creme Brulee cake with white chocolate Brush Strokes for aesthetics.

Advice for Brides-to-Be':
Start planning early! Do not compromise your vision! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a wedding planner, this is the only way you will be able to enjoy your big day with NO STRESS.

I like her reception dress a lot more.

I don't like either of her headpieces. They're too overwhelming for the rest of the looks.

I see what she was trying to do with the arm cuff but again, it's too much for the overall look.

All of the flower decor is beautiful.

So her husband is Taiwanese. Interesting, you don't usually see Black + Taiwanese relationships.

After waiting 2 1/2 years (!) I'm glad COVID didn't keep her from having her magical wedding. More-is-more isn't my style but she does look very pretty.

I think her wedding is beautiful and she looks beautiful. I'm not feeling the wedding dress as much. However, I love her reception dress-gorgeous dress.

More is more is my style, but it still needs to be coordinated. This isn’t working for her. It’s too dissonant.

The wedding dress is poorly cut for her shape. The bustle underneath is interesting, though. The mirrored aisle can be headache-inducing.

I like the lovely blush pink colours and other soft elements. The twine thing on her arm and her headpieces are not working. The cake is another busy bit with a different shape form the other elements.

Accents, not overwhelm.

The bustle is making a comeback? I can't get with any dress that makes your ass look huge. I think that dress would be better without that. I like the reception dress better.

All of her accessories are a bit ornate for me. The arm cuff is something that would probably annoy me. Hair pieces look like bramble or seaweed caught in her hair.

Ohhh I LOVE the poll, OP. I really don't like to critique people's weddings. Giving them a rating seems so much more respectful--and it ups the fun factor, too!

Anyway, I'm a sucker for tulle, so I'm loving all the layers on the bride's dress--that soft pink brings a nice bit of color.

Congratulations! The mirrored walkway was a unique touch. They look very in love. I do like how they met and their proposal story. It was very sweet. I actually liked both dresses, but it was a lot all together. If her hair was up, I think I would like the cuffs more. The location and decor were lovely. The cake was awesome, I would love to taste it. I gave it a 3.5/5 but rounded up for the poll!

Loved the floral color palette.

I wonder if his mamma had anything to do with the planning. She seems hella extra...

The bride looks lovely! The decor is not at all my style but is elegant and I guess works for them.

It’s interesting that the parents aren’t listed on the invitation, the groom’s mom is wearing mostly black and there don’t seem to be any elements of Chinese or black culture incorporated. Her family is wearing hints of red. Perhaps they had another traditional ceremony or it could just be this selection of photos. To each their own. They look happy.

The elements I like the least are what the groom is wearing and the bride’s family wearing red (jarring to my eye in a sea of neutral and muted colors).

Was the Marine his Dad? Where's his Mum? Where's his side of the family pictures?

Maybe the red ties were nod towards Asian tradition of red being lucky and brides often wearing red?

I love the aisle. I would do a mirrored one also. I would have made the flower wall bigger though, it seemed a bit small to me.

Mostly a very nice wedding. I really love her reception dress. The wedding dress, not so much. Asian man/Black woman pairings always surprise me for some reason.

This wedding is sweet, but the bride has too much going on. That Chanel quote is so appropriate. It is like she had no idea what she wanted as a theme.

Everything looked lovely except the headband, arm band and the head piece at the reception. Love the idea of a mirrored aisle and I liked the flower wall.
