Where are you getting your retin a cream if not prescribed? I feel like I need to be adding Retin A to my routine.

If I'm not mistake tretinoin, retinol, and adapalene (Differen) are related not the exact same things. I think most of what can be bought over the counter is retinol and adapalene. I've gotten Retin A prescribed not too long ago but I'm dabbling with Curology right now to get tret mixed with other ingredients.

I know people used to talk about getting Tretinoin from alldaychemists, but I'm sure by now there are more convenient places to get it from.

I got a prescription from my derm but decided it was too strong and decided to try curology before going back. Its been a month and I'm loving the results so plan to stick with Curology for the next 6 months at least. Its actually a bit cheaper too in the short term at least as I just pay for my products.

Are Drs stingy with Retin-A prescriptions? I've gotten it in the past when my acne was really bad, but it's better now so I'm wondering if I'll be able to get a script again.

I'm not sure if they're stingy but I'm looking at coverage wise. So I just rather find some on the low.

back when my acne was bad my dermatologist used to just give me about 100 one ounce samples of tretinoin. I now use the .50 retinol lotion from MUAC

What if your skin fine and you just have a few dark spots, do you think it’s doing to much.

I came to ask a similar question.

Texture wise, my skin is pretty perfect. But I have some dark marks and discoloration that refuses to go away. I have the ordinary glycolic acid, lactic acid, niacinamide (spelling lmao?) serum, plus the ascorbic acid serum and nothing has made a significant difference in these stubborn marks. I just want to even my skin tone overall. Will this help? It's hyperpigmentation and not acne scarring. Hopefully someone replies :) thank you!

It’s good for all aging skin because it promotes cell turnover. So texture issues, acne, hyperpigmentation, etc are treated when you use it.

It's still en route lol. I should get it by this week, I also made sure to get sunscreen. Do you like it so far?
I do I’m seeing progress so far, I’ll be ordering another one, it expires 5/18, I need to order this week just in case it takes a while to get to me.

I have been using tret every 3rd day for the last week and a half. Yall got me out here flaking! I swear, my skin better be perfect in a few months lol. As i mentioned, I don't have acne, just wanna clear up some hyperpigmentation and perfect my texture even more. I have been on the tretinoin subreddit and there's a lot of good advice there. I am gonna implement azelaic acid soon also.

Ditto and as it promotes collagen production, overtime your skin looks younger. You don't have to have "bad skin" to use it. I need to go back on it because it makes your skin amazing.

This evil thing nearly destroyed my face and self esteem was in the gutters. I regret ever buying it.
it tore me up too sis

I‘m so sorry both you went through that. :(

Everyones skin is different and it’s frustrating looking for stuff that will work for your skin specifically.

When I first started out using it, there was a period where my skin got worse (purging). I was so upset, but desperate, so I stuck it out and it did get better. It’s not a product where you will automatically see your skin clear up (most retinoids are like that). Took maybe 4-5 months to see a positive change.

thank you!

I’m currently taking retin a from apostrophe. I’m on week 7. So, I’m going to stick it out until July, I’m noticing the texture has improved but I keep getting these huge pimples and a few tiny ones, so I guess it’s just still purging. I hope I don’t need a stronger prescription, hell I might need the gel.

Thank you, I tried to wait out the purging phase but it instead increased the oil production on my face, you could literally fry some chicken with the oil my face produced every single morning. It was crazy, I was almost depressed and just threw it in the bin one day.

So I started out using Paula’s choice 2%bha liquid and the vit c15 booster, they have helped bring my face to some normalcy. I forgot to mention the differin deepened my smile lines and made parts of my face red! I did everything in the book but nothing!

With the great reviews I was terribly disappointed and sad.

Retinoids take forever to work. I was flaky for 4 months. (Luckily this was at the beginning of mask wearing). Now my skin is always glowy. But results differ for everyone

For flaking, what helped me was using the Buffering technique. Basically it's moisturizer---tretinoin---moisturizer.
I've been incorporating that, and the flaking has been much better. And it doesn't mess up the efficacy of the tretinoin, so you'll still see results!

Thank you! That's what I've been doing! I got so many good tips from the tret subreddit. I also picked up the vanicream daily moisturizer and it's so much better than the First Aid Beauty moisturizer I was using. My skin is less flaky this week. I also increased usage to every other day since it's doing so much better.

Can you share more on the results you're seeing + length of time you've been on it? What sunscreen do you use? I use the Supergoop Unseen and it's fantastic!
