I've worked at my job for 11 years. I've talked myself out of leaving several times, but finally got the courage to actually leave. I submitted my resignation, I will have more managerial work (my goal) and make more money.

Today, I feel sad about leaving. I know leaving is the best thing for my career and personal goals, but I still feel sad. I started crying today.... Feels like a breakup.... I know what I'm doing is best, but still feel sad....

Anyone else gone through this?

That's normal to feel that way but more importantly kudos to you for putting your own goal to move on to bigger and better opportunities before the emotional attachment you felt to your old job. At the end of the day, always put yourself and your own interests first because all these companies surely do the same. Excited you're starting a brand new chapter, sis! Time to focus on your bright future ahead :)

I left my job after 10 years. I wasn't really sad, the people that I like I still keep in touch with.

Change is good, Congrats!

It is exactly like a breakup. No matter how much people push the idea of just going to work and not emotionally involving ourselves, many people do. Nothing wrong with that. Eventually you'll get to the point where you can celebrate the decision you've made.

My roommate moved out last weekend , I moved to New York almost a year ago . How do I go from seeing a person everyday for almost a year to possibly never seeing them again . It’s sad .

Congrats. I resigned from a job a while back and was a little sad about it. But that sadness left as quick as it came because leaving that job was ultimately the best decision for me.

This will all be a memory. I just had a flashback of my early 2019 and how oblivious I was to the debauchery that was to come for me.

in short. How most people complained about 2020 being the worst for them, that’s how my 2019 was and things were beyond amazing last year personally.

keep stepping forward. Every single moment is a step into tomorrow.

Oh OP, I cried the day I announced my resignation, while I was writing my farewell letters to some of my coworkers, I cried when my doctor told me he'd miss me, and I cried the morning of (which was yesterday).

It's okay. Get it out of your system and just breath. It's okay.

It's normal to feel sad. You've been there for over a decade. It may take some time to get over this but feel your feelings. It will be ok, girl!
