Today is a good day so here goes. I’ve decided I am changing my pronouns to THEY/THEM ❤ after a lifetime of being at war with my gender I’ve decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out...

I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but fµck it!

I understand there will be many mistakes and mis gendering but all I ask is you please please try. I hope you can see me like I see myself now. Thank you.

P.s. I am at no stage just yet to eloquently speak at length about what it means to be non binary but I can’t wait for the day that I am. So for now I just want to be VISIBLE and open. If you have questions and are wondering what this all means I’ll try my best to explain...

These are activists and leaders of the non binary/trans community that have helped me and given me so much clarity and understanding.

I see he’s getting a lot of support after this announcement and kudos to him for living his truth I guess but this sh!t is literally getting to be so stupid. People are just coming up with the most ridiculous things now. When he’s in public what restroom would he or someone who declares themselves to be non-binary use?

I was thought as a child that you're supposed to used "they" or "them" only when referring to more than one person in a sentence. I don't understand how they and them can now mean just one person. I'm confused

So instead of saying I like Sam’s new song, “he sings well.” I would say, “they sing well” ??

Yup....this is what Sam apparently would want. Referring to a single human being using pronouns that by definition signal PLURALITY certaintly aligns with the idea that these folks are suffering from mental illness, doesn't it? OH, THE IRONY HERE!!

Why are there so many "I" statements for a plural person?

Shouldn't it be

"We've decided we are...."?

What confuses me on this is if he is trying to claim he is both genders, why can't his pronouns just be "he" or "she" because grammatically "they" is incorrect for a single person?

The response is always, "Well, I'm both" which still makes no sense as to why "he or she" can't be used....

Trans folks do nothing for their cause with the demand of special pronouns---I remember one person was annoyed that she wasn't being called "zir" or something and was suing zir company?!!!

Is being non binary something that needs to be taught to him?

As much as conversations around gender are almost a daily occurrence, I believe these thoughts are from a very LOUD minority. People are so confused and are tossed about with every wind of doctrine... every new thing.

why is this something that “they” needed to make as a “coming out” thread? making it seem as if they’re coming out as gay all over again. Is it really that hard to tell someone to call you different pronouns or are they just being extra?

Also I thought when people refer to themselves as "they/them" they identify as both genders?

I'm honestly so confused with the whole thing.

Another is being a demisexual...like I try to understand but I don't

Sorry if that sounds ignorant lol

Not to be rude but didn't he try to claim that he was the FIRST Gay man to win a ..grammy? or something lol. real LOUD about it.

and they told him it was the Rocket Man and dragged the fck out of him-- and he went into hiding. for like a year or two.

Elton John got a whole movie out of this disrespect lmaooo.

and, now he's gender-neutral/non-binary. hmm. Gonna be the first non-binary to win.

No, the they/them replaces he/him. It's not about plurality, it's about being non-binary

No, they means you don't identify with either gender, not that you identify with both.

Just use IT if you’re so non-binary

"It" refers to inanimate objects though, and (sometimes) animals.

Are you comparing Sam to a chair or a dog? :sneaky:

Is being non binary something that needs to be taught to him?

This could mean that 1. Sam is still coming to terms with how they feel about the situation and is trying to words to explain this and/or 2. Sam has the words, but they are not prepared for the trolling from people (like some fonts LOL) who will "ask" for an explanation.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned cross dressing when nobody is around? Lol
Cross-dressing isn't necessarily related to one's sexuality. There are straight cross-dressers.

Why is it the ugly fat ones who always use "they/them" pronouns. Anything to make themselves feel more special and unique to mask any insecurities. It's like how you have the stereotypical yt fat girl who has crazy hair colors, piercings and crappy tattoos, and full blown kawaii clothing style. The second they lose the weight, they dye their hair back to natural and dress conservatively. It's fascinating.

He's annoying af. Even the gay men I know don't like him.
