When people keep pointing this out, what is their overall point?? She is pretty.... Okay. She is light skin.... Okay. She isn't going to change any of those things and as long as she isn't treating people a particular kind of way then I don't understand their point in pointing this out.
We can state the obvious but harping on it gets us all nowhere. I wonder if other people wish they could have the same pretty privilege the way that they keep bringing it up constantly.
No one in this thread said anything negative about her.Yes they wish they had it. That’s why they continuously bring it up and try to knock her down a peg by saying they “don’t see her beauty” or by calling her average.
She’s very pretty and is well liked by the majority despite people trying to find anything negative about her.
....No, there isn't.isn’t there nepotism at play as well?
This thread doesn’t mirror all the other threads about her.No one in this thread said anything negative about her.
Acknowledge it for what though? There are some people on this board that don't even acknowledge eurocentric features lol. I'm not attacking you or anything and I am not a huge Saweetie fan either but what are people supposed to do if they have those features? I have what are considered eurocentric features and when I read some threads about privilege I'm just confused because are they mad at the person or the people that find that attractive? Also, not trying to make this about me at all.I think this is a good opportunity to dissect all the things that make up someone having pretty privilege. I do think it's having certain aesthetically pleasing features,. I feel like eurocentric features, light/bright eyes are praised a lot of the time, and light skin is apart of it. Not always, but a lot of the time, yea.

She's a very pretty girl but they do the most when it comes to her. It's not like I've never seen someone like her. And she's been looking stupid lately with the sh!tty wigs and facial procedures.I agree with the light skin comment because really don’t see this beauty that everyone claims Saweetie to be. She is a pretty girl that’s no question but she isn’t a huge beauty. She reminds me of baby bop.
I don't blame her for acknowledging it's just that I don't see the boards point when it's point out over and over again. I agree with you, but I have seen so many people that have even more of a privilege then her in the music industry because they are more ethnically ambiguous looking and pretty & their careers are hot garbage. I just want them to acknowledge that pretty doesn't automatically mean success.Hm isn't that the same with literally any privilege that someone has? It's not in your control but it exists. I'm lighter skinned, but I tan pretty dark brown, and have had a multitude of experiences around that because people treat me so differently based on how my skin color is. It's not exactly in my control, but I don't really see what's wrong with acknowledging and understanding that's playing a role in how people perceive me. I mean it's not meant to invalidate people, but I do think it's acknowledging the systems at play.
That's true. She knows how to market herself as a brand, and I like her personality. It does really work for her being an influencer but less a musician imo. But i see what you mean. I do see people just dead a conversation by dropping "she just has pretty privilege" I guess that's why I was like "maybe we should say what pretty privilege actually is vs. just dropping the phrase in a convo with no explanation." I was tryna see foster a convo/discussion where people would go further into it lolI don't blame her for acknowledging it's just that I don't see the boards point when it's point out over and over again. Tbh, this is actually true. I find many other black or black-ish singers or actresses prettier than her, like Gabrille Union, Normani, and others I can't think of right now. Hell, even Saweetie's own mother is prettier facially, even though she's filipina. Even now, her own mother outshines her facially. There is no beauty. Many people have a tendency of equating a light skin girl as pretty. She is an average looking woman. If she had a dark skin tone with the same face, she would not be talked about as often.
It is light skin privilege.
Exactly what I was thinking! They’re obssesed with speaking on light skinned this, light skinned that... but what are they doing to change it?!!When people keep pointing this out, what is their overall point?? She is pretty....
