Seriously, I thought natural means no manipulation or PRODUCTS.

Why should it be moisturized? Because it's slick and shiny, like straight hair?

lat_lilrichrd121309_97644a_8col.jpg

is this moisturized enough for you?!!?!

Does wool look "moisturized" to you?

Do you moisturize your booty? If so, you should moisturize your hair. That doesn't mean you want it to appear silky. It won't change your hair, you'll still be natural.

"Natural hair" in african american culture means hair that is not relaxed. If you wear your hair straight using heat tools it may be referred to as a "pressed natural". Anyways its nothing wrong with moisturizing natural hair. No hair type looks good dry.

Our ancestors were putting Juices, Berries, and Oils in our hair long before white people came to visit. They probably got the idea from us.

LoL.

Are you kidding??? I hope you are. I'm sure there was
hair care products back then during Jesus' time. The men who wrote the bible didn't have time nor the space to name all of his products. But i do believe juices and berries was on that list. Moisturized hair doesn't mean STRAIGHT hair. Un-moisturized does mean dry, damaged and severe breakage with hair. And I'm sure the bible didn't mentioned his hair was suffering.

I'm sure he kept it tight and kept it right. you need not worry.

ETA.....Ha Ha. I totally forgot what your post said. you were referring to white supremacy. not Jesus. LoL. oh well, i need to go to bed now. and stop posting for the night. LoL

But yeah, as far as the white supremacy is concerned....you crazy!

Black hair gets "moisturized" to retain length and show the definition of your curl pattern. Wtf.

Perhaps we should then define what "moisturized" means. Because from what I have been seeing, any hair that even hints at a "rougher" texture gets bastardized for not being "moisturized" enough. If I did't know any better, I'd think it's another way of saying "nappy". Don't get me wrong, I see it with curly/straight hair, too. But I have seen it a lot when the subject has stronger hair.

:sidefrown:

You're joking, right? You better be joking.

Natural refers to no semi-permanent or permanent CHEMICAL manipulation of the hair texture.

I assure you that my ancestors used products (lemon leaves, oils and coconut milk) to keep their hair moisturised. Also, my ancestors also straightened their hair using charcoal, and stretched their hair using thread.

By this dumbass logic no one would be using shampoo or conditioner...

This is so stupid...

We moisturize our hair for health of the hair.

It's no different than moisturizing your skin.

Dry skin: More likely to crack.

Dry hair: More likely to break.

Go moisturize your brain...

All this talk about moisture sure is making me thirsty

giphy.gif

I dont understand what you are saying. All hair types need moisture to thrive, kinkier textures need more just because of its texture. Without moisture, all hair types would suffer and break off. Moisturization isn't going to drastically change a kinky texture to silky and straight

It isn't like whites are natural. Their hair is probably stringy, dry, and prone to have lice without products. It isn't upholding white supremacy to want healthy, good looking hair. And good looking hair isn't just straightened hair. Its hair that looks taken care of. It's like plants needing water to look alive.

I know that's right. Some people fight with their achievements, some people fight with weapons.

But baby I tear down ol massa's house every time one of my dry, brittle strands breaks, brick by brick.

People with kinky or curly textures need to moisturize more because the sebum does not travel down the hair shaft for as quickly as yts. Thats why they have to wash it every day and we wash it once a week.

I noticed that when i straighten my hair i dont need to put any product in it.

I understand what you're getting at OP even though the example you used is a little bit absurd.

I think SOME people seem to be afraid of wearing their hair like this:

4047523460_920f5a2e56_o-300x300.jpg

growing-natural-hair-out.jpg

SOME people tend to find natural hair presentable only when it's overly manipulated, twisted and loaded with product like this (especially for 4c hair):

Natural+Hairstyles+3c+Hair.jpg

I know everyone has a different curl pattern and these could very well be their natural curl patterns ^^ but you can't tell me that you haven't noticed this. ESPECIALLY THOSE BEAUTY GURUS ON YOUTUBE!

Still doesn't excuse the fact that you need to moisturise yo hair OP... lol

Clandestine, do you have any comment on this one? I'm curious after that one thread in which you shared your views on the OP's asking about flat irons.

It seems like the people around you use moisturized to mean a silky look, when in reality moisturized just means a soft look or a not dry look.

Sorry. My head/hair along with my body NEEDS to be moisturized. If not, my skin and scalp would be the color of Tyrone Biggums' lips.

Like our bodies, hair need to be cleansed, fed conditioner, and hydrated for thirst. (Lashes, and eyebrows too) You can still style an Afro and have it moisturized.
