I'm not sure why there isn't a scam thread, but I've decided to start one.

Anyone who calls you from the area code 876 from Publisher's Clearing House is a Jamaican scammer. One had the nerve to disrupt my cooking by trying to scam me. I told him he was stupid for trying to scam someone who was half-Jamaican. After he hung up on me, I cussed his out in his voicemail.

Seriously. Anyone who requires you to get a gift card to collect your prize is running game. Don't fall for it, no matter how official they seem.

Feel free to add any info you know about money scams.

Car warranty calls for those of us who don't have new cars.
They call from regular house/cell numbers.

Here's another scam I encountered when I was car shopping recently.

People who try to sell cars under desperate circumstances and want to get money wired to them will try to claim something called EBAY buyers protection. This is another scam. EBP will only protect sellers on Ebay, not randoms on social media.

And if someone is selling a 2018 SUV for half the value in pristine condition, please believe that it's not a good deal. It's definitely a scam.

-Apartment scams on Craigslist. Always copy and paste the address into google to find the actual listing.

-Cash App scam: Someone you don't know sends you xxx amount of money that you were not expecting. They tell you it was an accident and to send it back to them.

-Anyone calling you from microsoft, amazon ect talking about a transaction that was made for a certain amount. They then ask you to log into your computer where they talk you into letting them gain access to your device. They then try to get you to log into your bank and the scam goes on from there.

Those sou-sous, lotus flowers money pyramid schemes (please note I’m not referring to sou-sous where you actually know the people and a proper foundation has been laid for how money is collected and paid out)

If you resell on sites like eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, or Facebook Marketplace, be careful of potential buyers who send sob stories to try and get your item for cheap.

Here's a new one: A phone call from a company claiming to reduce your IRS tax payments. Hang up immediately. They're trying to get your social security number.
