I recently discovered her videos and I just don’t get her. Like why does she have such a complex around her hair? It usually looks cute even though from the videos I’ve seen of her trying to style it, she doesn’t know what she’s doing. She even said her family compliments her hair. She’s one of those people who would be better of just hitting up the salon regularly if she’s gonna do all this

I like that she's keeping it real and showing that despite the growth, she still has problem areas.
For some reason I thought Rogaine was only for men. I wonder if the Rosemary will give Danielle long-term results.

In 2018-2019, my hair was crap and my doctor discovered that my iron and B12 were low. Ever since I took care of that, my hair went back to normal.

I think Danielle would benefit from a doctor and/or trichologist visit.

Why is she DIYing rogaine? Why not see a dermatologist?

Yeah, it's good that she had improvement but just like people visit doctors with physical ailments, they need to see dermatologists/trichologists for hair and skin. This worked for her but it's probably not advisable for everyone to mix oils to treat something like that. And with hair loss, it's important to treat it early.

Anyway, I hid her videos from YouTube because it's too negative.

I don’t really watch YT creators with any regularity. Someone posted someone else’s response to a vid of hers and I ended up watching SPs “reaction to TikTok hair content” video.

All I know is, she is beautiful, her voice is melodic, and she has just…great inflection, pitch, intonation, articulation…all that!

It makes me sad to hear that she’s negative about her hair.

Her hair has really gotten longer and thrived since her earlier videos. I’m glad to see that she grew her hair back.

There’s something very annoying about black girls who are heavily invested in Asian culture
Indeed. I used to be one of them when I was a teen and I’m so embarrassed looking back lol

I wanted to marry and be with an Asian man so bad (I’m not saying that’s what star puppy wants) and loved the japanese culture.
Thank god I came to my senses. There’s a difference between appreciation and obsession.

I'm happy for Starpuppy, her hair is looking healthy and lush. I watched her old blowout video to compare, her progress is amazing!

What’s her obsession with twist outs, braid outs and wash and gos. Her hair is so naturally dry it just needs to be moisturized and left alone. It often looks like it’s in pain.

Can’t make money off of "braid it up and leave it alone" styles.

Didn't she say that she wears wash n goes most of the time? I think that they're working for her. Depending on how you do your wash and go and your hair texture it doesn't take a lot of manipulation and a lot of people have good results growing their hair out with them.

What's wrong with doing wash and gos and twist/braid outs? Lol I think it's fine as long as you aren't redoing it more than 2x a week.

Just watched her recent video where she came to the conclusion that she has thick density, but fine strands and I felt that to my core. I always felt my hair was pretty thin-medium in density, but one time my hairstylist mentioned to me that I had ‘a whole lotta hair on my head’. I told her I always thought it was thin-medium and she explained that my strands are so thin that it may feel like it’s not a lot of hair, but there are a lot of strands in general and that only the area above my ears are lower in density. She also explained that I feel my hair is ‘thicker’ in front, because the strands are slightly thicker there. She then told me that I consistently have a lot of breakage which can also ‘decrease’ density and showed me how to combat that.

My world changed since then. Lowkey for the worst, because once I started to treat my strands like glass the broken hairs grew back and made doing my hair a lot more complex. I never used to feel overwhelmed doing my hair until after that day. Went from washing and styling my hair in 4 sections to 6-8 sections. And to think I used to wish I had thick hair. To the girls with 3 head of hairs on their head I no longer envy them. It really be a job to have thick hair.

How did you reduce your breakage to restore thickness?

She taught me how to finger detangle gently, but efficiently, how to wash my hair in a way that reduces tangles. She told me to always lightly dry tangle to get rid of most shed hair before wet detangling. Not to overbrush, which I’m a huge culprit of. Natural hair isn’t meant to always be thoroughly detangled, just enough to remove shed hair and prevent knotting. Olaplex 1&2 every time I used to get micro trims aka dustings, which at the time was every 1-2 months (I now only go every 4 months for maintenance). I pretty much always wore my hair down and loose or in braids. I avoided buns, ponytails etc… I also added more protein, iron and Biotin in my diet through food. I think the biggest thing she taught me was patience. I saw a font say this before, but if you don’t feel like doing your hair, don’t.

Starpuppy's method of blowing out hair is amazing! It's helped me keep my hair stretched with little to no breakage. The only tweak I've made is I don't run the revlon brush right through my hair at all. After letting it air dry in twists after wash day, I go over the sections with the tension method on cool. Game changer!

I tried this out for the first time and the results were phenomenal. My hair felt so soft and I started to notice shrinkage after a week. This blowout method is perfect for a root touch-up instead of heating the hair all-over. At first I used warm air then with cool air, but next time I want to try it with only cool air.

Ya'll what is going on in this video? These wigs are giving Party City and Shein, and nearly all of them are long and straight except for the Ronald McDonald-ass "Storm" wig. I wonder if she'd ever do a Pt. 2 with wigs that are actually flattering.

She opens up about her struggle, and talks about it in an honest candid way. This hits the sweet spot of content for her. She's still her usual whimsical self, and it's relatable without wallowing.

This is interesting. I'm not entirely surprised by her diagnosis but I'm happy Starpuppy shared her experience. No dramatics, no sob story just talking and sharing.

I wish her the best.

Well, this explains a lot as far as her hair. I don't watch her anymore but I saw the video come up on YouTube.

Not sure what this is about. I guess an extension of the last video? It made me roll my eyes when I saw it so I'm not watching, but I think most people in this thread are interested.

I find it strange that she showed us the bald spot and sparse parts, all the while she knew it was damage from hair pulling and stress.

She didn't have to divulge anything at any time, but she had people thinking she has excessively thin hair and spots of some sort of alopecia or abnormal hair loss. Maybe she was just really ashamed and not ready to share. If so that's sad.

exactly! and she kept touting the oils as helping to thicken her hair when that wasn't the case. sure it could have perhaps accelerated some growth but what she pulled out was just filling back in. that's really shady of her to have portrayed her story in that way. especially when she could have just not said anything at all.

Agreed. It's her condition to share but I bet she gave (false) hope to people who genuinely have thin, sparse hair and thought they can just apply some oils and their hair will thicken like hers. When really hers was just regular regrowth.

That also makes her introduction to YouTube as someone who struggles with low density hair somewhat dishonest.

She’s going to be back doing another hair journey in six months if she doesn’t go back to you establishing her hair care regimen. It’s easy to throw your hair in a protective style out of laziness but trial and error has already shown her that she has to maintain her hair on a regular basis to avoid it falling out. Maybe she’s going through depression and is just tired of the upkeep. Either way it is strange that her narrative is changing from having naturally thin hair to having anxiety and hair pulling.

Has anyone watched her latest video about quitting the natural hair community?

Is she being for real or is it a click-bait title?
