LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

State Rep. Attica Scott was among several demonstrators who were booked Thursday as they were gathered at a church in downtown Louisville.

Scott, who recently pre-filed a bill called "Breonna's Law" that would end no-knock warrants in the state, was booked Thursday evening on three charges, including first-degree rioting, which is a felony.

The Kentucky lawmaker who represents District 41 was taken into custody just off the property of the First Unitarian Church on 4th Street. She was trying to join the crowd that had gathered there after the curfew went into effect at 9 p.m.

Church leaders offered the demonstrators sanctuary at the church so Louisville Metro police officers wouldn't arrest them for disobeying the curfew.

Earlier Thursday, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer extended the curfew through the weekend. Anyone not going to work or church or seeking medical services must remain indoors from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. until Monday morning.

Demonstrators gather at downtown Louisville church past city curfew
A short time later, demonstrators made their way to the First Unitarian Church at the corner of 4th Street and York Street downtown. The crowd of several hundred people sat in place on the property but did not go into the church. Washington said those gathered at the church, which is private property, stayed there past the 9 p.m. curfew.

“Contrary to rumors on social media, the LMPD, at no time, was waiting for ‘a decision from legal about whether or not they can storm the property,'" Washington said in an LMPD news release. “No arrests were made for being on church property. No National Guard was deployed to address these issues.”

A pastor at the demonstration told WAVE 3 News the protesters would be allowed to leave, gather their belongings, and head home without facing charges. Washington confirmed the protesters stayed at the church as officers secured the library, then the demonstrators were allowed to leave First Unitarian and go back to their homes and cars.

The only demonstrators arrested, 24 in total, were charged with unlawful assembly, failure to disperse and riot in the first degree.

I hope she stays safe, pretty sure they're out for her because of that bill. I don't count on it, but someone needs to step in due to them overcharging folks with felonies for protesting.

This is angering. I wonder who's representing her legally? She needs a smart attorney that can outmaneuver these charges.

They better drop those damn charges! They let the white militia break curfew, but you're going to arrest a State Rep? LMPD are bullies and incompetent assholes.

Good. She's not above the law. If she was rioting or vandalizing sh!t and it is demonstrable then she should be arrested. fµck her and the idiots supporting the rioting and sh!t.
