I definitely will give it a watch but it’s giving me Shades of Blue vibes, heavy.

Damn Equalizer 1 and 2 are unfuckwithable. That role is built for Denzel. This won’t make it past the mid season break.

Not bad so far, is she doing her own stunts? I wonder what Denzel's thoughts are on her performance.

I tried, it's horrible. Nothing about Queen Latifah in this role is convincing. That fight scene was just a No, looking like someone out of shape grandma beating up people. No, No, No.

So far so good. Latifah is good in this. She looks a little tired though. I hope she's doing ok.

The character is world weary.

If you wanna see female actors stretch and go outside the usual stereotypical roles....you have to give it a chance.

Asian lady: Use the landline to make calls.
Dumb ass girl: Turns on phone and is immediately traced.

It's going to be one of these shows, isn't it...

Queen Latifah’s CBS series ‘The Equalizer’ filming in N.J.

Queen Latifah has been showing love to New Jersey her whole career. This week is no exception.

The multitalented actress, singer, rapper and producer is filming a TV drama in her home state.

Latifah stars in “The Equalizer," a new take on the 1980s CBS series that starred Edward Woodward as Robert McCall, a retired intelligence agent who comes to the aid of people who find themselves in dangerous circumstances.

Latifah, who plays ex-CIA agent and single mother Robyn McCall in the show, is also an executive producer of the CBS series, which is currently filming in Jersey City.

Stephanie Daniels, creative director of the city’s film initiative, FilmJC, says the show is using a house in Jersey City as the main character’s home, though she’s unsure if that means the series is set in New Jersey or somewhere else.

Daniels tells NJ Advance Media that she saw Latifah on set Monday.

“She was just so chill, just friendly and talking to people,” she says of the actress, who was born in Newark and grew up in East Orange. “Everybody was wearing a mask,” she says, and social distancing.

“It’s the first time I’m really seeing what the industry is doing,” Daniels says of the TV production, which has a trailer for COVID-19 testing.

She noted that Latifah, 50, had another local connection — Latifah, who formerly lived in Jersey City, bought an old firehouse in the Powerhouse Arts District. She used the restored space for her production company, Flavor Unit. (Latifah sold the property in 2015.)

The city notified residents on social media that the TV series — which a tweet mistakenly called a movie — would be filming Wednesday on Gifford Avenue between Bergen Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard and on Bergen Avenue between Gifford and Bentley avenues. (For those affected by blocked-off parking between Tuesday and Wednesday night, the production is offering spaces at Lincoln Park between the tennis center and fountain.)

Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim created the original “Equalizer” series, which ran from 1985 to 1989 on CBS. Denzel Washington played a version of the same character in “The Equalizer” movies released in 2014 and 2018.

Latifah is producing the show alongside showrunners and writers Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller (“Castle”).

Chris Noth (“The Good Wife,” “xes and the City”) plays McCall’s former CIA boss and Lorraine Toussaint (“Selma,” “Orange is the New Black”) plays her aunt.

Latifah, born Dana Owens, was nominated for an Oscar in 2003 for “Chicago." She won an Emmy in 2015 as a producer of HBO’s “Bessie," which featured her in the starring role of blues singer Bessie Smith. In 2008, she won a Golden Globe for her performance in the HBO film “Life Support.” Her TV roles have ranged from Khadijah James in “Living Single” to Ursula in “The Little Mermaid Live!” and Carlotta Brown in Fox’s “Star."

The Jersey talent’s other film roles have included “Hairspray” and “Girls Trip.” The actress first rose to fame as a rapper, releasing her debut album “All Hail the Queen” in 1989 and winning a Grammy for “U.N.I.T.Y.,” her 1993 song with an anti-misogynist message.

She also has a hand in local real estate. Latifah’s mixed-use construction project at Springfield Avenue and South 17th Street in Newark includes affordable housing.

Saw that coming a mile away. You have the guns and ability to kill the protagonist you got the advantage on but nope, time to knock them out.
