Similar to the one for hair, this is the space for you to post about the skincare, body care and makeup that you have used up.

Some questions to consider when writing your reviews:

How much was the product?
What is the consistency/texture like?
What did it claim to do and did it actually do it?
Would you repurchase?

Rate it 1 out of 5 with 5 being that you love it.

Posting your skin type and anything else you want people to know about why you chose the particular products that you do.

Neutrogena hydroboost water gel. I used this as my moisturizer for all of July. It is very hydrating and light. The texture is a gel and melts into the skin very easily. I have dry skin but I layer hydrating products and this worked just fine. It's about $24 full price but there is always a sale. 5/5 will repurchase but I am testing out the trader joes gel moisturizer right now.

51UDv6qOFUL._SL1000_.jpg

I got this when I got the face one. I love it. It's so light weight and not sticky (perfect for summer) and feels pretty much the same as the face one. 5/5 and I already have two in my stash. You can actually use this one on your face as the formulation is nearly identical. 5/5 $10 for 16oz and I highly recommend this line.

Neither of them have a scent. I have so many scented body lotions and I wanted one that wouldn't interact with my perfumes.

What it's claimed to do:
  • Corrects dark spots
  • Restores radiance and luminosity.
  • Evens the complexion
  • Smoothes and refines skin texture
  • Moisturises
It didn't even my skin tone but my skin was smooth AF in the morning. Very moisturizing and bright.
It's thick and creamy but glides on and you don't need alot.
I would buy it again. I think maybe with continued use it could erase the dark spots

Eucerin Sensitive protect Sun cream SPF 50 PA

1.Retails at $35, but I got 2 for the price of 1.
2.Consistency is a bit greasy. I have dry sensitive skin and I find it very moisturizing but I will wipe out some of the excess oil before my last application. It does not sting my skin like most other chemical sunscreens (but will sting if it gets into the eyes)
3.It contains licorice root extract which can help with hyper-pigmentation. I noticed a couple of stubborn post-acne dark spots lightened within a few days of using this.
4. Will definitely repurchase but not at full price since it ran out very quickly.

NADINOLA FADE CREAM
Original-Extra-strength-formula-Nadinola-skin-discoloration-fade-cream-64g.jpg_q50.jpg

had a bout of adult facial acne and it left some dark spots on my cheeks. After cleaning my face every night I applied it all over my face before bed. Has slight scent but not bad or greasy. After several weeks my entire face was becoming lighter as were the dark spots. I then started using it on my dark kneecaps and dark elbows. It does work and at the time I was buying it at my local drugstore.

You maybe able to order it online via Wal Mart, Amazon, Walgreens, etc.
I have created a new dark spot on my leg from resting one leg over the other when seated and I am going to try to purchase it again for this.

IT WORKS!!!

THIS PRODUCT IS EVERYTHING. Consistency is gel, moisturizes well...not too expensive.

Cheap, but effective.

Was hesitant due to what it is...BUT, it works! Cleared up scars from breakouts caused by my N95s, surgical masks and respirators. Skin is smooth and glowy!

I will continue to pay $10+ for this! Skin is soft, moisturized and radiant. My feet feel like babies!

2x obia naturals kokum body butter

purified water, olive oil, vegetable glycerin, stearyl alcohol, coconut oil, kokum butter, unrefined shea butter, btms and cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, aloe vera oil, gluconolactone ad sodium benzoate, lavender oil, vitamin e, phthalate-free fragrance
apply a generous amount to your skin and massage lightly until absorbed. use as often as needed
maintain skin's moisture balance - i guess it did that, i mean it didn't dry my skin out so i guess.
intensely moisturized dry skin - no. i didn't feel intensely moisturized, it skipped over the skin and didn't feel like it absorbed, i actually added some baby oil to the 2nd jar to get some smoothness to it.
moisturize skin w/o exposing it to common chemical irritants found in most products - true. the ingredients are very good

price:this is 8 oz. price is originally 9.99. i got one of them for 5 with the code teamobia18 and the second one i got with the code onesmartfro but i don't know how much i got off of that jar. i got a regular amount of uses for me.
cost: 5/5 cpu: 3/5

smell: i loved the smell. it smelled like baby powder to me.

consistency/texture: not a butter but a cream with a little thickness to it

Performance: i did not like it. it felt like it was skipping over my skin. i was really excited to be done with this. 2/5

Packaging: i don't think design and packaging matter too much but just to include it... it was very nice clean packaging and it's in a jar which was good for use. but the top doesn't have a good tight close. 4/5

Overall: 2/5 i would not buy it again.

face: normal/oily forehead/cheeks. dry under nose/around mouth. slight hyperpigmentation that is almost gone.
body: not particularly dry but i do have 2 small random spots that can get a little dry

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% serum

The jury is still out on this one. I have noticed some improvement in my skin but I’m not sure if it’s because of this or the other skin care products I’ve added to my regimen over the past few months.

Candles

Posh Candle Co

Black Girl Magic

This is so good! I’ve seen a few other brands with the black girl magic name, but this scent is my fave. If you love foodie, sweet smelling scents then you’ll love this. It smells so good that my mom stole it from me lol. I’m burning the last bit of it now, but I will 100% RP soon. It also lasts a while. I had some candles from Shea Shea Bakery that I used up within a few uses. This is still going strong numerous uses later, even with me leaving it on my wax warmer overnight.

These are $15 for 8 oz. I believe they’re all vegan, plus when I’m done with this I’ll keep it in my room to use as a makeup brush holder. Love it

Just Made A Man Cry
Another sweet scent. If you like BGM you’ll love this. I forgot to say that her candles are strong enough to scent the upper part of my house when I burn it in my room. Will absolutely RP this scent as well.

I forgot to say in the beginning, but this is a black owned candle company also!

Best foundation primer hands down. Been using smash box primers for 6 years and will never stop. I always get compliments on my foundation because of this primer because the difference without it is real. Makeup actually lasts all day, foundation looks smooth and not cakey, during the summer my makeup doesn’t sweat off, barely any creases besides my smile line etc. Costs £30. 5/5, smash box doesn’t play when it comes to primers!

This has one of the highest concentrations of Vitamin C that I have found. It is a light weight serum and gets quickly absorbed into the skin. Not greasy or sticky. My skin definitely maintains a glow while using this. It's $38 for 30ml and worth every penny. I have another one coming in the mail. 5/5

I wash watching shameless over the weekend and Veronica and Kevin invested $850 into an MLM that sold a product that looks just like these. They got everyone in the bar to try them and they all ended up with chemical burns under their eyes. They started selling these as hemorrhoid patches.

j moniques naturals bentonite & rhassoul detox hair mask - it is a hair mask but i partially used it on my face

water, bentonite clay, rhassoul clay, soy butter, coconut oil, rice bran oil, fenugreek, turmeric, natural emulsifying wax, preservative, fragrance
simply apply a quarter size of the cream into your palm, and apply it section by section to your wet or damp curls and let hair dry naturally.
this hair mask removes product buildup and will detox the scalp and hair of impurities & toxins that cause breakage and damage - no it left my hair feeling like i needed to shampoo after it
it will repair the hair shafts, leaving hair healthy and vibrant - my hair didn't seem particularly vibrant

price:this is 8 oz. i got it for 7.50
cost: 5/5 cpu for skin: 5/5

smell: has a chocolatey smell. but i didn't like the smell. 2/5

consistency/texture: thickish paste like cream.

Performance: it did actually do okay for my face. it helped with some hyperpigmentation. 3.5/5

Packaging: i don't think design and packaging matter too much but just to include it... it was in a jar which was good for application 5/5

Overall: 3/5 it was okay. i don't see me buying it again.

face: normal/oily forehead/cheeks. dry under nose/around mouth. slight hyperpigmentation that is almost gone.

This smells so good. I could eat it. It does scrub really well but isn't too oily. I'm upset that I didn't buy more than 1. I hope they bring it back next year. I have the hand cream too and its great. 5/5 will repurchase. It's about$6 for 8oz

Kyncare Body Cream (Sugar Cookie)

It looks like they don’t sell this in the fall/winter at all, only summer. Right now they have their body butters. The scent reads more of a licorice scent than Sugar Cookie. Either way, these products are excellent for Summer. Lightweight yet hydrating enough so I don’t have to remoisturize every 12 hours like with some lotions.

Unfortunately I won’t be repurchasing due to the company itself. Excellent products but that’s where it ends. I detailed my entire experience in the Latest Beauty Buy thread (3 times, actually) but they basically took my money and didn’t send me my products. Had to get my credit card company involved. The products also oxidize. They worked fine, but I’ve never had a body product so this, even ones that are more natural like this brand.

Products are great, I just can’t recommend them.

water, coconut oil, vegetable glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, btms and cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, rice bran oil, shea butter oil, kokum butter, gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, lavender oil, aloe leaf extract, vitamin e, phthalate free fragrance
apply a generous amount to your skin and massage lightly until absorbed. Use as often as needed.
maximum moisture - really good moisture
long lasting hydration - moisture/hydration did last long
non-greasy formulation - it wasn't greasy

price: this is 8 oz, originally 9.99. i got it for 5.00 with the code TEAMOBIA18. i got 2 and a few small uses out of it.
cost: 5/5 cpu for skin: 5/5

smell: has a lavender baby powder smell. i love it
rating: 5/5

consistency/texture: a lotiony texture, smooth.

Performance: this was very nice, i didn't feel a need to add any extra to it and it really moisturized my skin and wasn't greasy at all. i would have liked it to spread a little easier on the skin but it was still quite nice.
rating: 4/5

Packaging: i don't think design and packaging matter too much but just to include it... it was in a bottle and i didn't want to use that so i emptied it out into a jar
rating: 3/5

Overall: this was very nice. i don't see a reason why i wouldn't buy it the next time i buy something from obia.
rating: 4/5

Posh Candle Co Candles in Rosé Made Me Do It and Salty Lil Beach

Loved both of these. The Rosé candle was a nice sweet-floral type scent that wasn’t overdone (I’m not big on florals do this is big for me) and Salty Lil Beach smelt just like the beach. Idk how to describe it, but smelling it brought me back to being younger and going to the beach all the time lol.

I’ve been very happy with all my candles from them so far and will definitely RP in the future after I wittle down my candle collection

The body shop strawberry body yogurt. This smells amazing and gives a very light layer of hydration. It leaves a weird feeling layer on the skin.I always mix an oil into these because it isn't enough for my dry skin. I will not be repurchasing them and I have two more to get through. But I won't be touching them until next summer. 2/5

Soap and glory make my favorite body products. So of course I have another body wash from them. 5/5. Will repurchase.

Shea Shea Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Scrub

upload_2020-9-21_14-57-59.jpeg

y’all my skin always feels so good and so soft after using this. Also insanely moisturized. I never needed to put on lotion after using it. The scent is also insanely accurate. If you closed your eyes it you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between this and a plate of fresh cookies.

The only con is the chocolate pieces didn’t dissolve as well as the rest of the scrub. Whenever I’d go put it on my body there’d be pieces of it all on my floor. Always felt like a waste tbh. Either way I’d recommend it and RP it.

Prefer this to the one from The Ordinary niacinamide.

Some reduction in my very large pores and oil control. Used it up and had been waiting for it to come back in stock which it did recently.

5/5 - Chef's kiss!

s1778992-main-zoom.jpg

I got a travel size of this with one of my Sephora orders and promptly forgot about it. Recently decided to try it and I'm in love. Very hydrating with a slight matte finish which is perfect for me. Feels comfortable on my skin and my skin looks so good. In the running for holy grail status. Will need to use for a few months before a final decision. Like it as much as the Tatcha Water Cream but this is much cheaper.

Trader Joes moisturzing gel. 9.99 for 75ml. I like this for summer and it's comparable to the neutrogena one but I think I like the neutrogena one more. Not worth the repuchase espicially now that the weather is getting colder. 3.5/5

It’s okay. It’s not mega hydrating but not drying either. I have normal-oily skin so this was good to me. It didn’t wow me though, it was just middle of the road. Won’t RP, but would recommend if this something that appeals to you.

Soy fresh face cleanser. Love this stuff! It is very gentle on the skin. I prefer it for my morning cleanse. 5/5 will repurchase during the next sephora sale.

trader-joes-beauty-1.jpg

Trader Joes hyaluronic moisture boost serum. This is a pretty decent serum. It adds a nice burst of moisture to my dry skin and is around $10/ 4/5 may repurchase but I am looking for something a bit more complex.

Mad hippie antioxidant face oil. I love this. It has a great blend of oils. I use it as my last step at night. $20 for 30ml. 5/5 will repurchase.

5/5 Holy Grail

Only eye cream I've ever used up in my life. I did get the smaller size. Don't know if I will get the full size since this small one lasted forever. Very moisturizing. It's very thick so I just tap it on and give it a few minutes to absorb.

5/5

Had my skin glowing in a week. Saw improvements to my 3 yo acne scars. Made me skin feel really smooth.

$45

4/5 I don’t think it’s worth the price but it definitely helps with smoothing and firming the skin.

Dehydrated, normal skin.

Mad Hippie Vitamin C- First one I tried, I really liked it however the PH is too high to be effective so make sure you are using a low PH wash or toner. Good if you want something completely clean/ vegan. 4/5

Skinceuticals CE ferulic. It’s amazing, lightened hyperpigmentation, gives you a natural radiance if used correctly with a good regimen. Ph is low so this why it is so effective so quickly... However smells like hotdog water and is expensive. If your skin is oily get the CF version because i think ferulic can break oily skin out. HOLY GRAIL!!! 5/5

Belif aqua bomb it’s nice, a cool jelly texture that immediately melts into your skin. Good for dehydrated skin. Won’t clog pores if you have oily skin. It’s like water gel. It’s similar to the Neutrogena Hydroboost, it is less irritating if you are sensitive.

Innisfree intensive hydrating cream with green tea seed. I had a 20ml travel size of this and I really enjoyed it. It does a great job of moisturizing my dry skin. It's $24 for the full size and I plan on purchasing it. I really enjoy the innisfree green tea line over all. 5/5

Annabelles Perfect Blends Body Cleansing Creme (Fruity Loops scent)

This formula is so lush and luxe. It’s whipped to perfection. It also lathers real well and just feels so nice. I actually like it more than the Butter Bean Shop, even though I really love her stuff too. The Scent I got is also amazing. If you held this up to someone’s nose and they were blindfolded, they would think you were holding up a bowl of fruit loops. It’s that amazing.

I had another tub of this (unicorn scent) and 2 more on the way. 10/10 recommend

Biossance squalane + probiotic gel moisturizer. $52 for 50ml jar But I had a 10ml sample. This was surprisingly moisturizing for a gel moisturizer. It is one of the thicker ones that I have tried making it good for most of the year except for winter. It did a great job and felt very nourishing. 4/5 because the price is up there for how much you get. I would buy it if there was a good sale.

Purito sunscreen. The best sunscreen I have ever used for my face. Not too expensive either.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I can confidently say I’m not a fan of this. I actually have the lip balms if this as well; still not a fan. They just aren’t hydrating enough for me. My lips are hard to hydrate for some reason, and given how hyped up this is, it’s not amazing. I keep it in my bathroom to use when doing my skincare routine, but I know my lips will still be dry in a few hours.

I’ve posted about it in another thread, but my all time FAVE seems to be the Frank Body Lip Balm. You can get it at Ulta. So nourishing. I think I’m on my second tube. Lanolin seems to be the key ingredient for my lips. It’s a gross ingredient lol, but my lips are too picky for something else.

I plan on getting the lip balm from KNC Beauty next. They are black owned and vegan
