The real Uncle Tom was a hero, Josiah Henson, was an abolitionist who helped slaves escape among other great things.

Even in Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Uncle Tom gets killed for refusing to rat out other slaves, so the term is a bit misplaced.

Although his character is obsequious, he ultimately refuses to sell out his own.

If you are interested, check out the book called "The Road to Dawn: Josiah Henson and the Story That Sparked the Civil War". I read it last year and loved it.

Told people that before, especially on here. that he was one of the good ones. Uncle Tom's name is being used incorrectly.

I remember that episode of "The Jeffersons", when Louise's uncle came to visit her, George and Lionel. And George and Lionel kept referring to him as an "Uncle Tom", much to Louise's dismay. But eventually, Louise's uncle set George and then Lionel straight about Uncle Tom's true identity. And he even told George, "I would never call you an Uncle Tom", meaning that George wasn't good enough to be called one. :ROFLMAO: That was one of my favorite episodes.

Yep. I've been trying to tell LSA to stop using the term Uncle Tom. People don't understand the meaning behind the term because they don't read.
