It's called the "Bering Strait Theory": Native Americans originally inhabited Siberia thousands of years ago, but mass migrated to the Americas by crossing the Bering Strait between Siberia and modern-day Alaska.

Some scholars and Native Americans claim it to be debunked, saying that it was developed as a defense/justification for Europeans taking over American lands ("they migrated here too so technically they do not 'own' this land").

Other scholars say that the theory is in fact backed up. I honestly don't know.
oh ok. it’s what we were taught in school but it never seemed to be a justification for taking the land, never thought of it that way. interesting though.

That makes no sense for anybody trying to use human migration for this reason. Every group migrated from somewhere else. Even Europeans had to migrate to Europe at one point. Human life all originated in Africa. Even the ancestors of Neanderthals that were in Europe and Asia before humans, descend from earlier ancestors that came from Africa. But even within Africa, people had to migrate to different parts of it.

I believe in the theory of migration of the Bering Strait, Brazilian natives also resemble Asians

It's very obvious where Native Americans came from. I don't know why anyone would be surprised. They did not sprout from American soil and that doesn't take anything away from them.

Don't get me wrong, they don't look and act exactly alike (It has been 13,000+ years), but there are some similarities.

Look at the men in the front row of the following picture. I personally find their facial bone structure similar to some of the Native men I've seen here in the states.

I apologize for nerding out, but I've always been fascinated with the world, its people, and the history of migration. It's why I find it hilarious when people in the west obsess about racial "purity".

Humans have always split off, rejoined, absorb each others groups, and even created new groups throughout human history.

We humans have only been in existence for 200,000+ years and it's going to be real interesting to see what new human groups will arise another 1,000 years from now. Especially with the current mixing (of races and ethnicities) that's growing in popularity.

Yeah, i would say some natives, but you have many indigenous people that look very different. I wonder what is the other root of native Americans pre European people. For example these predominately native americans look very different. What i considered native Americans is not exactly confined to United States or Canada. Backpacking with mates in South and Central American gave me a different perspective of the various native american cultures.

Well some of them do look like Indians, like Indian from country India. They were literally named American Indian, mistaken for or not, its fitting a term. I believe they were once the same people and spilt off.

NAs have asian roots, no doubt about that for anyone with eyes.

Usually when they do these type of test with natives that have high indigenous blood the asian Dna is maybe 1 to 5 percent.

The Canadian Indians and Aleuts/Inuits have paleo Siberian DNA because the received it from the ****** and Inuit. This is only true in The far Northern Norm America, Not Southern Norm Americans or South Americans. This stream of Asian can’t late after the First American populations came here about 30,000+ yrs ago. Their were no East Asians, Mongolians, or even Paleo ******* at that time. This is why NAs have no close genetic relations to modern day Mongolians or East Asians. It’s not Rocket Science!!

I wonder this too. Is it European admixture?
