Get a warehouse job. I used to count my steps, and I'd do about 10 miles a day.
Counting steps is a great place to start. And like a lot of other people have said, if you‘re not changing your diet, the walking won’t be much of a help.

Try to get to 10,000 steps in a day and move up from there. Good luck, OP!

Do you mean a WEEK? Or kilometers? 25 kilometers is 15.5 miles... still too much for DAILY.

And being significantly overweight, you're going to damage your feet starting off walking even 5 miles daily... you also need to build your stamina.

Don't just walk, change your eating habits too. Cut back on processed and fast foods, sodas, and alcohol... also, you can do home workouts. If there's bad weather, don't just put off working out.

24 is nearly a marathon. It's a distance that even fit runners have to build to & it would take approximately 7 hours or more going nonstop at a decent pace. So if you want to get to that distance, do a training plan like a runner would do. Build your weekly distance over time w/ a long day once or twice a week. Increase the length of your long day every week.
You don't want to injure yourself & increasing your length gradually would let you know your hydration/nutrition needs.

I don't think 24 miles a day is realistic OP. I ran a marathon in 4.5 hours and a marathon is 26 miles & I trained for over half a year. And let me tell you I was in so much pain after I finished... in the knees, feet, hips, pelvis, calves, lower back, etc.; & still had aches & soreness the following few days. So if you're talking about doing 24 miles walking... it's gonna be too time consuming (prob around 6-8 hours; the average walking speed is 3 to 4 miles per hr) even if you break the miles up & your body won't be able to sustain that pace on a daily basis.

Have you ever heard the story about a grandma losing weight just by walking 3,000 steps a day in her apartment & going vegan? The article below might help you gain some insight how to approach your weight loss journey:
86-Year-Old Woman Loses 120 Lbs. by Walking Around Her 1-Bedroom Apartment

Not even to be mean, but when I came into the thread and read the Op I’m like well when are you supposed to sleep?? Do you work at all? I was just wondering based on my own struggle of getting my steps/3 miles in after sitting at a computer working from home all day. Walking 3 miles takes a little while depending on the terrain. 24 miles though?? Walking? Hmm more power to you boo! I wish I could do the same but my ankles be like “Alright now! You playing games...”

Now to be conducive to the thread, getting a Fitbit a few years ago changed my life. Once I was able to legit see how active I actually was during a weeks time, I could make realistic changes to my day. Getting a few laps in around the building before my shift (inside laps were encouraged), building my endurance on the stairs, and parking a bit farther away at work.

I kept that up for about two years. I lost my motivation at one point along with other changes that weren’t so great. Gained some weight and I’m back out there trying to lose it with a new Fitbit tracker for weight loss. I’m making conscious efforts to get in 3 miles every day. Whether it’s walking to the lake or doing intentional steps around my apartment to meet my goal for the day. It’s a mind thing first, caloric deficit, and eventually you will see the results! Good luck OP and everyone else!

I like to tell myself that you meant 24 miles a week right? RIGHT??

24 miles a day is unrealistic for even the most fittest of people

The legs would give out before you even hit the 25th mile.

You could probably lose your whole life. That is overkill. If you're out of shape, you need to consult your physician before starting any strenuous workout routine.

When I tell you I FELL OUT; OMG.

Maybe 24 miles a week!! I exercise 30 minutes a day, on an exercise bike. I average about 5 to 7 miles a day.

This woman does the snake diet and walks a ridiculous amount each day. Check her YouTube but it’s minimum 15 miles if I remember correctly. She lost 100 lbs in 9 months.

I agree with everyone here that’s too much, especially if you work. Start with a 5k which should take less than an hour and count the rest of your steps.

If you walked 24 miles, would you still be in the same city you live in when you turned around and walked back to your original destination? It sounds like such a long journey just to get some exercise.

lol I walk 2 miles a day and am probably going to up it to 4 miles pretty soon, (1 hour, twice in the morning and evening). 24 is way overkill. I remember I once walked from my ex's house to my house because he didn't have a car. It was only 7 miles, but took us over two and a half hours and felt like 70 miles. I can't imagine doing 24 in one day.

At 270, i'm sure you aren't used to 3 miles a day, let alone fuggin' 24. That's nearly a marathon a day. Stop the ridiculousness.

First goal: just walk. Do laps around the block until you feel tired. Do this every day and build consistency, and when you got that down go further. Your weight loss will be almost all due to your eating habits. Walking is for health, eating at a deficit is to get rid of pounds.

I had to google and realized you're right about the marathon length. No ma'am OP! Ain't nobody walking that much in a day everyday. Especially not someone who I'll just assume has been mostly sedentary. Look at your diet. At your weight, simple things like cutting out chips and soda will help. Whatever it is you've been eating in excess to gain the weight is what you need to severely lessen to lose the weight.

Did op ever clarify or she was dead serious and got mad at y’all responses? Either way I needed this pick me up lol but shout out to you OP cause 24 is beyond me. I average about 10 a day with a par time warehouse job and 1.5 in the gym. 24 would be impossible for me cause I do to much as is.

OP I started walking 3 miles a day. It took about two weeks for that to feel comfortable/I had to start walking faster to get a 'workout'. I just increased to 4 miles today (one month later). I'll probably max out at 5 miles next month. 4 miles is 1/5 hours for me; I think the MOST I could do in a day is 6 miles for 2 hours. But what would be the point? My legs hurt all the time lol and after awhile your body adapts anyway.

Someone needs to check on sis to make sure she's still alive after all that walking.
