WarnerMedia finally named its upcoming streaming service on Tuesday — HBO Max — and gave the first details of exactly what it’s programming lineup will look like when it launches next spring.

HBO Max will feature programming centered around HBO, Warner Bros, New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth and Looney Tunes. These include rights to classic sitcoms like “Friends,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” — which had previously not been available on any streaming service — as well as Freeform’s “Pretty Little Liars.”

Licensed Content

  • All 236 episodes of “Friends”
  • “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”
  • “Pretty Little Liars”
  • All upcoming CW shows including “Batwoman” and “Katy Keene” (Netflix still holds streaming rights to some CW shows that are already airing)
If it's not under $9 they can keep it!

I'm thinking of leaving ATT and going to Tmobile because I don't really feel like I need the HBO channel anymore! I'm conflicted

none of the shows or networks listed appeal to me enough to sign up for a whole other subscription service. And I actually like several CW shows. But I wouldn't pay to watch them again. I'd have to see what their original programming looks like over the next few years, if they last that long.

I'm sticking with Netflix and the free ad-supported streaming sites like Pluto TV, Roku TV, and Crackle for the most part. I've occasionally subscribed to other paid sites like HBONow, Showtime and Hulu, but never at the same time. That would be like having another cable bill. I don't regret cutting the cord. There are a lot of free over-the-air channels too.

It seems Warner will keep HBONow and HBOGo, but those two streaming sites won't have the new original content and WarnerMedia programming that HBO Max is offering. HBO Max could cost $16-$17 per month.
