I just watched this video and damn record companies are vampires. Megan said she earned 15k out of 7M she generated.

Tyga in similar situation. No wonder despite his songs doing ok, he still popping onlyfans and increasing his debts by taking the fake it until you make it route.

The only who I thought they gave too much to was Blueface. He should have worked for free. Trash!

And the fact that artists keep going to Birdman despite what he did to Wayne his 'son' he kisses on the lips no homo. I don't feel bad for them. If he could do this Wayne who he knew as a child why not you fool?

I mean it’s common knowledge that American entertainers often are exploited by business predators. The problem is that most entertainers choose the pseudo flashy life than actually getting paid...

I never understood this either. Couldn't you make more being independent? but I think the "fame and recognition" is more important to them than their art because they could easily make good money being lowkey.

Meek mill has got the nerve to be talking bout these white ppl having artists in slave contracts. He’s one the worst and just like them.Just ask the guys he’s tried to sign and the ones already on his label. He just wants to to be the one to screw them over instead of the white man.

Anyone noticed it's Black people screwing Black people over? These country singers out here get their due, but Black folks are perpetuating racism across their own people.

The last thread with the two young women and Beyoncé was trying to low ball them. This is dang evil.

I wish more young people could see this vid and breakdown. I'm not here to knock anyone's dream, but the truth for A LOT of the current crop is that music wasn't even a passion or dream as much as it was just a play to get rich quick. And if you aren't passionate about it then it isn't worth it.

Notice the amount of industry vets who don't want their own children in the industry.

I agree, but sadly they are pressured and somewhat forced into it. A part of their fame is upholding a certain image that encourages flashiness and lavishness.

It depends on the deal and artists. It is true you earn more on tour and merchandising.

These artists should write, produce and sing their own songs. SIA writes her own music and writes for others and she is doing well.

Kelis is doing well.

Alot of the artists on the video have an image that most brands don’t want to work with, they don’t produce or write their own material. How would they make money when they don’t do their own material and have a personality that is uncharismatic and down right dangerous?

Because a lot of artist don't choose their image? Sometimes I feel like music records go after people that are easy to manipulate, a lot of those people live recklessly.

Sia was always a writer and a great singer, how did she land not only recognition but good chunks of money? Who knows. If she didn't have to do what the rest of these people are doing then it's a miracle.

Kelis made some cash and married into a guy who got very fortunate with investing. Don't she still get over $1,000,000 of child support from this man?
