Working part time in a 5 and dime
17. Summer baby as well.
17, a lot of us must be summer babies or went to school before the cut off was September 5th I think it is.
Is there a cut off based on your birthday in the U.S? My apologies, I'm not that familiar with how the US school system works
Yes. I turned 5 a few weeks after the cut off so had to start kindergarten the following year.Is there a cut off based on your birthday in the U.S? My apologies, I'm not that familiar with how the US school system works
I started preschool at 3.You have to be 5 by September 1st to start kindergarten. I’m not sure if that’s every state.
Okay. I’m talking about real school. Preschoolers usually start at about 3.I started preschool at 3.

Depends on the state, and whether the school is public or private. There are still many (good) schools that test children before entering, which allows for younger children to start school early. Is there a cut off based on your birthday in the U.S? What type of question is this? Are you expecting some outrageous number like 80
What were you doing as a teen
I thought it was if you turned 5 on or before labor day17, a lot of us must be summer babies or went to school before the cut off was September 5th I think it is.
How you asking a question but not answering yourself
Yes, under certain circumstances. Most public schools (schools that are funded by the local government) require children entering elementary (primary) school to have reached their 5th birthday by September of that school year. Private schools--schools funded by parent-paid tutition/fees--tend to be more flexible about this requirement. Is there a cut off based on your birthday in the U.S? It is odd. I wonder if it’s something parents can contest.I never knew that, that's so cool and interesting lol, in my province everyone who is born in the same year usually starts school at the same time.
I don’t even get the purpose of the age cut off. Like 4 months to hold a kid back a whole year? What do they think is sooo different in that 4 months compared to the children born earlier in the year on average developmentally? I wonder who came up with that weird rule. I never experienced it until we moved to the south and the school wouldn’t let my baby cousin start kindergarten until the next year because she’d missed the cutoff date by like a week. Makes no sense.17, a lot of us must be summer babies or went to school before the cut off was September 5th I think it is.
