I tried a version of that, it was a fail for me though.Where I’m from we’d slice them and cook them on the stove with a little bit of oil, ketchup, black pepper and some onions. Good with bread, good with pancakes, good by itself.
Cheap dessert, if you can find them are those apple pie makers. You put buttered bread (on both sides), apple slices in the middle with some sugar and cinnamon, then put it over the flame on a gas stove, or over an open fire. It has some handles on it. I only found an old one, and was like, this is cool...then my Aunt told me what it was for.I think what throws most people off who've never heard of it before is that they envision plain bread with white sugar thrown on top. Really, the bread is buttered, topped with sugar, and then toasted in the oven to melt together. It's pretty much a cheap sweet dessert by then.
My cousins used to also do maple syrup sandwiches, un-toasted but again with all that sugar, it's a cheap sweet dessert by then and bread compliments and pairs nicely with a lot of flavors and textures.
I will ttrie it with broccolie and mac & cheese also. TBH, that is not far off of what that other person suggested, they just said to bake it, and put tomatoes and onions in it. I know myself, I’ll put it all in.-Vienna sausages. I don't care what anyone says.
Tastes even better mixed with broccoli and Krafts Mac and cheese.
- Instant ramen.
- The cheap-o cookies you find and any grocery store.
- Generic cereal brands.
Anytime you use the word croquettes, I think you are moving out of poor food, pluse salmon? Is that British? Are they the same as salmon cakes? Do these rely heavily on bread or bread crumb filling, and other seasonings?Salmon croquettes and fried smothered potatoes.
