I’m 28 weeks (3rd trimester) pregnant today and I’m still so small. Literally only my belly has grown. When I first got pregnant I weighed 109 lbs, and as of my last visit I was 117 lbs I believe. Idk if it’s because I was severely sick during the first till mid second trimester, but my full anatomical scan showed that the baby was measuring properly and at her recommended size.

My next appointment is later on this week so we’ll check and see how things are going...but I know I can’t be over 125 because I can still fit into xs/s clothes.

It depends on the woman tbh. Before I was preggo I weight 135 pounds at 5”3. Towards the end of my pregnancy I was 152/153 and now that my daughter is 3, I’m 140 now. If you’re having issues with your weight, I recommend you talking to your doctor about it

These are questions you should ask your OBGYN. They will be able to give you the best advice. Every pregnancy is different. As long as your baby is measuring on schedule, it’s nothing to stress over.

I’m 5’3, was 130 when we found out I was pregnant and 155 when I gave birth. Our baby is 9 months and I am now 145.
No two pregnancies are the same, never hesitate to ask your doctor questions.

Usually around 15-20lbs I think (depending on the starting weight of mom). However, you should talk to your OB about this.

That's a question for your doctor. Bear in mind that as you get closer to 40 weeks you will most likely gain more weight. The baby grows a lot the last few weeks. I gained 23. Started at 117 and ended at 140 and it took time to get there.

Depends. If you started your pregnancy underweight, usually you gain around 30-40 pounds. At a healthy weight should be around 25-35. Overweight, 20-30.

I think it depends. My first pregnancy I gained 9-10 pounds. This pregnancy I’m in my second trimester and have gained about 21 so far. Lol

As long as your baby is growing and healthy your seeming lack of growth elsewhere on your body is basically irrelevant. Your severe first trimester nausea likely is a factor. There is zero need to gain a lot of excess weight while pregnant and unless you are severely restricting your diet and not telling us then you are just lucky in terms of how your body is handling pregnancy weight gain.

It is also worth noting than when we talk ideal pregnancy weight gain we aren’t talking about gaining 35 lbs of fat.

From the Mayo Clinic:

Where does pregnancy weight gain go?

Your baby might weigh in at 7 or 8 pounds (about 3 to 3.6 kilograms). That accounts for some of your pregnancy weight gain. What about the rest? Here's a sample breakdown:

  • Larger breasts: 1 to 3 pounds (about 0.5 to 1.4 kilogram)
  • Larger uterus: 2 pounds (about 0.9 kilogram)
  • Placenta: 1 1/2 pounds (about 0.7 kilogram)
  • Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds (about 0.9 kilogram)
  • Increased blood volume: 3 to 4 pounds (about 1.4 to 1.8 kilograms)
  • Increased fluid volume: 2 to 3 pounds (about 0.9 to 1.4 kilograms)
  • Fat stores: 6 to 8 pounds (about 2.7 to 3.6 kilograms)

Putting on the pounds

In the first trimester, most women don't need to gain much weight — which is good news if you're struggling with morning sickness.

If you start out at a healthy or normal weight, you need to gain only about 1 to 4 pounds (0.5 to 1.8 kilograms) in the first few months of pregnancy. You can do this by eating a healthy diet — no extra calories are necessary.

Steady weight gain is more important in the second and third trimesters — especially if you start out at a healthy weight or you're underweight. According to the guidelines, you'll gain about 1 pound (0.5 kilogram) a week until delivery. An extra 300 calories a day — half a sandwich and a glass of skim milk — might be enough to help you meet this goal. For women who are overweight or have a BMI of 30 or higher, the guidelines suggest a weight gain of about 1/2 pound (0.2 kilogram) a week in the second and third trimesters. Try adding a glass of low-fat milk or an ounce of cheese and a serving of fresh fruit to your diet.

Definitely depends on your own body. I know it can be frustrating but every woman is different.. I personally know women who may have been slim/average weight prior to having children where some were mostly belly and didn’t gain too much and some who gained anywhere between 40-80 pounds throughout their entire pregnancy.
For me personally, I’m going on 26 weeks and already gained about 25 lbs lol ‍♀️ A chunk of which I gained during my second trimester. I didn’t gain much during my first. I am a bit worried about how much I’ll gain the remainder of my pregnancy but as long as I monitor it and eat as healthy as I can for the most part I believe I’ll be okay. Same goes for you don’t be too hard on yourself ! Check in with your Dr. with any concerns but as long as your baby is growing according to size I think you both will be just fine.
