To tell you the truth, Spanish telenovelas beat US soaps in the ratings in America and around the world (other than The Young and the Restless), and has been doing so for nearly 25 years now.

What is the greatest telenovela you have ever seen or heard of?

Mine is Marimar, Rubi, Nina amada mia, and Destilando Amor.

I loved reina de cortezones (im probably spelling that wrong) but its called queen of hearts in english. The lady who played will Smith's love interest in bad boys 3 was the lead on this show. It was really good, but i didnt get to watch the full series because a version with english subtitles it hard to find.

I love soap operas in any language! If there are subtitles, I'm watching!

El Extrano Retorno de Diana Salazar.

I love this soap, i watched it when I was a little girl with my grandma. It was scary a bit, especially when her eyes turned yellow...also the finale....

From Wikipedia
El extraño retorno de Diana Salazar (English title: The Strange Return of Diana Salazar) is a Mexican telenovela produced by Carlos Téllez for Televisa in 1988.[1][2] It is an unusual example of a telenovela which addresses supernatural topics. The telenovela first begins in Zacatecas, New Spain in 1640 and later transitions to Mexico City in 1988, in which a woman accused of witchcraft and burned by the Holy Inquisition, reincarnates into a young girl who seeks to find the reason for her constant nightmare of being burned at the stake.

Rubi was good to, the one with Barbara Mori. Didn't see the recent reboot one, don't want to. Barbara Mori is gorgeous. I have the DVD.

Rubi beat the Monday Night Football and 2004 Bush-Kerry debates in the ratings in America at the time.

It was that popular of a soap

Maria la del Bario. Great theme song and has a villain that has truly become iconic:

Vale Todo and Amigas Y Rivales were my novelas! Amigas Y Rivales was kind of all over the place, but it came on right after Vale Todo, so I watched it anyway. I wish I could find the dvds for old times sake.

Amigas y Rivales is one of the greatest soaps of all time. Ratings spiked through the roof the weeks after 9/11 as an escape from all of the bad news.

El Clón, the original from Brazil that was dubbed in Spanish. I also liked Xica da Silva, although it was a difficult watch. The original Porqué Diablos from Colombia and although I have not finished it “Celía”. I feel like Brazil and Colombia had the telenovelas on lock.

Edit: I heard Avenida Brasil was good. I need to find where to watch it.

Mori is a icon. One of the most beautiful women in the world.

Rubi is the most watched soap of all time, beating Y&R in 2004

Silvana sin Lana was my 2020 corona-trapped gateway to Telenovelas.

Ended up looking for other shows featuring the leads.
Silvana sin Lana didn't have the comical slaps.

Another good one is La Casa de al lado.

The one l enjoyed most was Eva la trailera, really good. Not a soapy storyline. The villain was a smooooth ice queen.

Pasion de Gavilanes

All of the brothers were super fine and Oscar and Jimena were my favorite couple.

No. That’s not correct. The highest rated soap/novella in the world is called Bold & Beautiful. That’s been the case for decades and is common knowledge

Brazilians telenovelas are the sh!t. I don't understand a word but I try.

Da Cor Do Pecado. Paco and Preta were whew!

Barrentinho and Sabrina in Duas Cara's were another couple full of chemistry.

I loved Sharon Menezes playing Berenice's crazy ass in Lado a Lado.

Da Cor Do Pecado was my first novela. It was amazing. The writer continues to make hits.

Duas Caras is another classic. The cast though was top notch.

Cheias De Charme is great and campy.

I still love to this day Rubí, Cañaveral de Pasiones and Corazon Salvaje the 1993 version. The 2009 version was tragic all around.

Lazos de Amor was good, En Nombre del Amor, the og of Soy tu Dueña which was La Dueña.

That drama annoys me because she could have really had it all, she was just never satisfied and patient, she was just chaos personified and it really aggravated me, because I was rooting for her.

Dona Barbara with Edith Gonzales (RIP) even though she was screwing over her daughter I still rooted for her. Luz Clarita was a children’s novela but I loved it. Luz Maria with Cristian Meier that man was fine as hell and still is. La Otra was another classic with Yadhira carillo who looked like a Mexican Sofia Loren. They just don’t make novelas like they used to.
