I'm scared of doing peels by myself so I will most likely start going to an esthetician. I have hyperpigmentation and a five o'clock shadow from years of using depilatory cream. What peels do anyone recommend?

I am an old pro. Started doing it myself in 2014, stopped for a couple years and started again this past April. I love it! I use MUAC peels & products, and the results are fartanstic. At this point, I am simply maintaining. I only do a TCA 2 times per year. Alternate between mandelic acid and lactic acid on Fridays. Peels are a regular part of my facial routine now.

I have never done a peel on my body. Face only.

When you see an esthetician describe all of your concerns and she will recommend what's best.

Ara by essence has a enzyme mask that works like a mild peel, actually feels lower than mild and it smells great. It’s made out of papayas

I wouldn’t recommend anyone try things without seeing an esthetician first cause they might even need a peel and idk whats going on with y’all skin but if you are familiar with getting them and want to see the mild affects at home safely this is chef kisses

edit : I noticed I already name dropped this product Srry y’all. I’ll try update the original post with the same info

My skin was sensitive for a bit afterwards but i loved the results. I went to a licensed esthetician who was very knowledgeable about my skin type

I had the Cosmelan peel done on Wednesday. The esthetician recommended I leave it on for a full 12 hours but I really couldn't. My face was already on fire so I washed it off after 9 hours.

No peeling thursday but I woke up today looking like a lizard LOL skin underneath looks nice though. Face is still a bit red and puffy so I am glad I didn't leave it on for the full 12 hours.

Most are too harsh for my face so I don't use chemical peels.
However, I used chemical peels on other parts of my body and have had success.
I used it on my bikini line, under arms, etc and have had success. I cleared a lot of ingrown hairs, and hyper-pigmentation. I'm really pleased with the results I have.

I got a glycolic acid peel on Wednesday. My skin just looks more even, I haven't had any peeling though.

I read this whole thread. I’m considering getting a sensi peel on my face done by an aesthetician and trying some at home peels on my body.

One of the best decisions- I ever made .
I don’t even have to wear foundation make up anymore.

Unless it’s an event or date…
But, on the regular- I just apply bronzer to my nose bridge , lashes , brush my brows /outline(yes, I need a pluck lol) and then my lips.

I was stressed a few months ago and wasn’t sleeping. So, I started collecting bags.
Chile- got rid of that stress (man problems): unamused:
&& been getting my sleep on !!

No one I meet think I’m 30 /30+ .
Everyone believes I’m 21-27 .
Take care of your skin , get whatever treatments you need !!

Moisturizer is your best friend !!
&& water is your husband !

I’m getting my first peel (lactic) this weekend
Update: After the peel, I was told that my skin was good enough shape not to need an additional peel…apparently I have freckles and if I can’t stop eating food that trigger my acne I won’t have any additional discoloration.

Thank you !

SALICYLIC ACID (BHA)

I have oily skin . Like I used to wake up and my whole face would be shiny - even though I washed my wash before sleeping.
Changed my diet , did a lot .
I love wake up and I would get pimples easily- because it’s all oil based as well.

I got this done recently .

Talk to your dermatologist and really go for what’s best for your skin type !
I just needed less oil . Now I have a natural matte / almost blur (I do still use my Fenty blur power shh, lol) look .
I feel more confident with FaceTime and taking selfies - with friends .
Because, my face won’t be looking like how it did when I was a kid and my mama would slap Vaseline on before I went to school
(my mom is Jamaican ) .

Also, try microdermabrasions, it a maintenance every few months.
Okay , I will !! Thank you.

I got my first VI peel in September, going for my second next week. I read the whole thread and I am really surprised at the amount of people doing their own peels. I am all for DIY in alot of things but this?? Hell. No.

As for the peel, I will be getting them regularly for the foreseeable future. They are only $150 plus tip. I get facials monthly as well, do red light therapy and have a good skincare routine. I want to get into Korean skincare though. Just don't know where to start.

Got my second VI peel. It's day 6 and the peeling is almost done. I use my red light therapy at night to help with the healing process. My skin looks great! Very even and hydrated. I am making sure to apply alot of sunscreen and will return to my normal skincare regimen on Wednesday.

Scheduling my third one for March. I will get a few facials in between then.

I’ve been wondering if I could get the VI peel if they are very careful around the eyebrow area. I have ombré brows and don’t want to mess them up.
