I remember when I was 9 or 10 my brothers and their friends would load up in their minivans (yes they all had minivans on 10's LOL) and drive to ATL for this event. I heard all the stories and I was waiting to get grown so I could go. I know we got some older fonts here; did y'all ever go?

I haven't heard about freak nick in years. I thought it had gotten to violent. In Alabama they have foot washing events and they too get violent. But people come from miles around to attend the event.

Yes I remember. I was a kid when they it used to happen in the 95, 96, 97 years. There were mainly young adults who had on booty shaking shorts and bikini bras. It looked like a Girls Gone Wild the Black version.

City officials shut it down because it became a nuisance. Too many arrests, fights & other crime. And because of the heightened security people stopped coming.

Damn, I was thinking about Freaknik the other day. Didn't know it had died. When I went, I heard guys basically started damn near molesting girls if they got them in a crowd. My girls and I rolled deep just to keep an eye on each other. Atlanta HATED Freaknik and did everything in its power to shut down all of the streets and interstate exits. It became harder and harder to hold it.
Not to mention the folks who weren't in college who messed it up even more by acting ratchet as hell.

Terrible. That sucks it takes foolish people to mess up what started out so good in the beginning.

I was going to one of the colleges at the dead end of it. Around that time, everyone was trying to drive down to Daytona Beach instead.

My best friends brother was driving down the street at freaking when a group of girls came up ...one of them got in the car with him.... He said he waited a minute and finally looked at her and said...

You just left your friends and got in the car with a stranger... I could be a serial killer... and as he said it he locked the doors and looked crazy when he did it...

He said she waited till he stopped at a red light and broke out his car and ran for her life....

Wonder if she did that again.... folks get to casually trusting on those type events...

I have never been to the Freaknik but I went to Greek Fest in Philly and it was pretty much the same as Freaknik.. Swimsuits, bikes, girls half naked, guys half naked.. It was very xesually charged..I thought it was fun, except for the people that wanted to get grimey... The grimey people messed it up for everyone... See,, everyone knows that it was the place to get freaky if you wanted to with some new meat.. The problem was that you had guys being extra thirsty and grabbing, smacking on peoples asses. I got my ass slapped and then when i turned around to see who it was, it was some ole dusty dude talking about " You looking good". I feel like it was black people's Cancun or something like that... It was like someone else said, our Black Girls Gone Wild.. It started off all for fun.. I dont think the world is ready for a large amount of Black Americans to get together for fun, because just like we fight, drink and all, so do white people and spanish and irish. i just think cause they are so AFRAID of us, they come up with ways to stop us from networking and partying with each other on that type of level.... I am babbling but hopefully you understand wth I am sayin..

The last one was 1998 people got tired of the fuckery and bµllsh!t.

Too much traffic, too many people, chicks getting raped.

The girls had no self respect for themselves. Running around damn near naked tweaking in the streets. Thirsty ass ****** thinking it was ok to strip those girls naked in the middle of traffic!!!

High school student skipping school to hang out with older college students.

The malls were over crowded with people most hanging out not shopping.

I'm glad it's gone never experienced it but I've seen enough videos.

In the beginning it was amazingly fun in a kind of innocent way. Then all sorts of crazies started going and ruining it. Definitely spread well beyond college kids and quite a lot of illegal activity resulted ( beyond the typical under-21 drinking ).

Some of the things I saw at some point can't be unseen!

I went to a couple Freakniks in the 90s. It got deaded because of the ratchets and the traffic jams it caused. But it was fun as hell.

It went away like it needed to. That ish was a hot ass mess. Keep it down in Florida where it belongs. lol

ETA: My only personal experience with Freaknik was when I went to a Hawks game. It was me, two of my parents' employee's kids and their dad. I was probably about 16 at the time. First of all, we were late to the game due to all the traffic, even though we took the train halfway there. Then, after the game, we get back to the MARTA station, and next thing we know a wall of people are running towards us. Either someone had a gun or someone thought they had a gun. lol either way, we weren't here for it and started running, too. Nothing happened. But yea, that was enough for me to experience. Enough for me to know I didn't want anything to do with it. lol. Luckily, we did have a grown man with us, no telling what would have happened otherwise because we were all 16 and under.

Outside of the xesual assaults, the craziest story I heard was about an OLD woman who jumped on top of someone's car and started to masturbate for everyone to see. Right in the middle of traffic.

So, yea, good riddance to Freaknik. It is already bad enough having to carry the burden of every low class, in the gutter black person that exists without having video evidence to back it up. lol.

I went in 1997 but it was better between 90-95. Atlanta really did not want "us" down there acting up like they do in Florida during spring break.

For those of you that think THOTS are a new thing....lol Ya'll aunts and mommas was popping it wide during Freaknik.

If you was born between 93-97, don't know who daddy is and was born in Jan....lol

it's demise had very little to do with attendees not being in college.
hell...attendees not being in college made it hot from the jump.
don't start this sh!t today...it's much too early.
