What's your opinion on the age girls should be allowed to experiment with makeup?

What age will you allow your daughters to experiment with makeup in the home and what age can they wear it outside? A friend tagged her 13-year-old daughter in a bday photo and the child looked 21. Dyed blonde streaks and a face full of makeup. The pic was from a year ago. Girls are looking like women when they shouldn't.

Experiment like playing in makeup around age 13/14, such as mascara, lip gloss and bb cream (even that’s too much). Wearing a natural face maybe around 15/16, concealer, blush, and eyebrows. A full face should be at 17 or 18 at the youngest. I wasn’t allowed to wear lashes until junior year. Even now I don’t wear a full face consisting of foundation and contour, too much makeup looks bad on me.

8-10 if she wants to practice/learn how to apply makeup but she can't wear it until 15.

I was playing in my mother's makeup that early (mascara, lipsticks, eyeliner mostly).

I agree with everyone saying 13/14 that’s the age I started wearing mascara and light makeup. I started wearing eyeliner, foundation and really experimenting to see what worked for me at 17

13-14 is good. Experiment all you want at home, but not leave the house in full glam.
Girls should be allowed to have fun, play in makeup, learn techniques so they aren't struggling to pull together a basic look when they get older.
I'd say 16 to leave the house with a basic look eyeliner, mascara, neutral lip/gloss.
18 and up for full glam: lashes, eyeshadow, eye and lip colors.

I wore lipstick and nail polish in light pinks starting in middle school. I didn’t start wearing real makeup until college. I think for play inside the home age shouldn’t matter it’s just like painting but going out only light and natural looking makeup 13+. They don't need the whole cosmetics aisle on their face. Teach them that makeup is about enhancing what you already have so there’s a positive connotation and not one of shame and needing to cover up.

Like...for fun, dressing up at home? 8-9. My teenagers used to enjoy it when they were this age. They liked playing with my makeup.

But they never really took serious interest in makeup as they got older. My oldest likes a bold red lip, and she rocked the hell out of one of my red lipsticks for her 8th grade graduation. She wore a pantsuit with a blazer and kitten heels. She looked gorgeous.

She doesn’t wear lipstick often, though. Like...once in a while, and seldom wears mascara and eyeliner. She has long eyelashes and I like to put mascara on her from time to time.

My 14-year-old has negative interest in makeup. I convinced her to let me put mascara on her several months back (also has long lashes). She only wears lip balm or gloss. That’s really all I wear unless I’m in the mood to do my face. If I do a bold lip, I‘m light on the other areas. I’ll go for mascara and maybe eyeliner and that’s about it. That’s typically my go-to, and my oldest picked up on that.

I think girls should be allowed to wear as much as makeup (full face + eyelashes, etc.) around the house. It can be fun for them. But outside, it's a little different imo. 13/14 I'd let them wear lip gloss, concealer, mascara, blush - very natural makeup that doesn't rearrange their face. Once they are 16+ then they can wear what they like outside.

I think it depends because if they are 5, then it should only be chapstick and nail polish, maybe glitter. Then around 10-13, sheer gloss, then in highschool I would allow light makeup from eye shadow, lipstick, eyebrows.

Play with makeup they can start whatever age, just buy little cheap dollar store makeup and let em play with it. Wear it outside, starting at 14, exceptions would be a special event like a wedding or cheer leading competition.

My mom let me experiment with her make up in the 8th grade. I started wearing make up in high school. It was just a little foundation, lipstick, and sometimes mascara. My daughter won't be allowed to make up until she's sixteen.

my parents let me experiment with make up inside the house from like the age of 10 but was not allowed to wear it to school or in public until my fourteenth birthday. looking back i think that was really reasonable and accomodating of them. if i ever have a daughter i will do this too.

18 is still too young in my opinion for a full glam on a regular basis...even early 20s. Young girls/ women should enjoy their youthful skin and fresh faces for as long as they can.

*childless person's opinion*

As someone who wasn't allowed to paint my nails or wear makeup until I was practically in college (b/c of religious/judgmental relatives), I say 13 is a good age. I'd allow her to play/experiment in the house with foundation, powder, blush, eye shadow etc. But all of that would be within a budget lol. I wouldn't allow her to post the pictures online nor would I post them to people. I think foundation/powder, blush, and nude/pinkish lippies are okay for wearing out the house at that age. I wouldn't allow shadows, eye liners, or mascara until late high school. (I just realize that teens aren't usually interested in powder/foundation. lol)

She can play at home or with her relatives as young as she wants. Based on her maturity level I'll let her start wearing outside of school around 10 if she wants. She can start experimenting at 12 for school.

My mom forced me to start wearing makeup when I was 12 smh lol.

I let my daughter play with makeup at home at around 5. She wants some purple streaks at 9 and I’m considering it.

*i’m childless*

Light makeup at 13. Full face glam at 15/16. But take my opinion with a grain of salt
