When will these hairstylists learn to be on time for appointments?

What is the point of scheduling a set time to get my hair done if you are not going to honor it? I get a message 30mins before the appt time to see if I can push my appt back another 30mins. It’s highly annoying and it happens every single time with different stylists. Please be respectful of other’s time! I do have other things to do myself today.
I’m pretty accommodating and I’m usually flexible but this has been consistently going on in my experience.

Are you going to a Black salon or to someone working out of their house?

Do these stylists have salons OP or do you have to go to their house? Either way I don't understand why they overbook just don't take so many so other clients won't have to be further pushed to the back-burner because of other clients times

I'd cancel and say don't worry about it. Bc they playing with your time and your money. Lot of times stylists need people to check them about time management and being promptly bc they will take their sweet ass time.

I actually charged my nail tech a late fee & her ass obliged lol my hairstylist is normally pretty good with appt times but she let me name my own price for my styles now. I said I've been nothing but loyal & you know I'm far from difficult. I just manage my day around my appointments and appreciate if I start on time if not within 15 minutes.

Or just be accountable, a hairstylist was consulting me on getting bundles, told me the website she uses and everything, I never purchased bundles before, & I wanted a weave. Well I got the bundles, paid a good penny for them, got the closure, and when I went to set up the appointment with her she ghosted me. Now I am stuck with bundles and have to search around for another stylist. Smmfh.

Do what you gotta do! The lesson will be learned once they realize you gone and they lost a good client with their sloppy customer service.

I found a new hairstylist and while she didn't start on time, I didn't mind at the end of it because I actually felt like I had a spa-like experience. She took her time with everything and I felt pampered, she even gave me nice restaurant suggestions for me and my boo.

I gave her a nice tip... so at least if these hairstylists won't start on time, make up for it with the experience. A lot of them have sh!t customer service on top of the lateness, especially the ones who work out of their home.

I think it's part of the Black hairdresser culture. You got an appointment for 9:30, you arrive and 9:00, and you're not getting out of there until 3:00. This is why BW started turning to youtube to learn how to do their own hair, they don't have all day to sit in the salon. It's fµck!n' stupid on stupid if you ask me.

I haven't gone to stylists in years. Just learned to do my own rather than the stress.

Same here, but not so much for the wait, but moreso because I'm very particular when it comes to the details. The way they work, they don't want to hear more than a sentence when you tell them what you want. So if you point out a detail here, a detail there while they're doing your hair, they catch a *they know how to do hair* attitude when, who needs your fµck!n' attitude, because if they were handling the details you want then there would be no need for a customer like me to mention the details.

This is why I stopped going -- I kept my details and the money she'd be getting to my self and have been doing my own hair ever since, it looking, because of the details, exactly like how I wanted it to look.

You should've told her you would be willing to push the appointment back if she was going to give you a discount (aka a late fee). I don't play with these girls anymore. My time is just as valuable as yours.

I feel your pain.

Scheduled a hair appointment a week out for 9:00am. I'm at the shop before its even open. The receptionist gets there and is like "Oh, I had been meaning to call you but the stylist lives far away and never makes it in by this time. She'll probably be in in by 9:30"

Hair didn't get started until 10.

But why even have 9am as an option when you know that's not possible?

Late fees need to go both ways.

I had this happen recently and I didn’t tip her ass and made that known. Was a braids appt and good thing I had washed my own hair bc after she was more than 1 hour late she told me she couldn’t wash my hair bc it would push her books back. Had the nerve to rush me out the chair when the next appt showed up

Thankfully, when I got my hair done last week my hair dresser was prompt, polite and I got out 15 minutes earlier than scheduled and my hair looked amazing. I gave her a nice tip. But she’s a rarity and she stays booked, that’s why I do my own hair.

Yeah I try to avoid the salon for this reason. I will get a blow out at a Dominican salon when I want a trim/length check...about once a year and see a barber regularly for trim/shape ups.

I'm dealing with this now, and I'm sorry that you along with others on this thread dealt with this issue too. Being late is my #1 pet peeve.

I live an hour away from my stylist and she is always asking me to push my appointment back a half hour (even if I am the 1st appointment of the day). I have been going to my stylist since Nov 2019 and she has been on time twice. I started getting my hair done again in the fall since COVID started, and I was late once (less than 10 minutes) & advised her ahead of time.

My final straw was in March. I was in town for work and a vaccine appointment and she asked me to push my appointment back from 6pm to 630pm. I had to kill time at my job to accommodate the delay. I get to the salon at 6:30 pm and she is still not there.

I have finally found a stylist in my area and will be going to her for the first time next week. This stylist has a perfect 5.0 rating on style seat and the keywords "on time" are highlighted in the reviews, so I hope the new stylist is the one.

People will treat them how you allow them to. Even though she's a great stylist and took excellent care of my hair, I am done with her indefinitely.

Yes this happened to me last week so I canceled all together. I told her on Monday I need my hair done the following Sunday. She told ME to give her a time. I said 10 since it's early enough to get in and out but late enough that we both have time to get there.

I kept confirming she said ok. The morning of radio silence. I called and texted. 30 mins after the appointment time I call her from my dad's phone and she has the nerve to have an attitude.

She proceeds to tell me that she never works that early on a Sunday and she'll be there in another HOUR. I said no thx and went somewhere else.

did anyone see this thread on Twitter regarding stylists trying to reschedule appointments at the last minute?

on a side note, I am trying out a new stylist tomorrow. Hopefully she’s on time and does a great job. She’s been very professional in her communication with me about the style I wanted and has good reviews online. I took pto for this appointment so it better not be rescheduled lol

Chile I just had a home stylist who I went to regularly, cancel my appointment through a DM 10 minutes before the appt talking about her phone was broken.

I didn’t even see the message she sent me until I was knocking on her door.

This hairstylist did the same to me. I set up an appointment at 12:15 she asked me to come at 9 or 10 like I don't have a life. Then I said no. She said to come at 12:30 instead. I come at 12:30 she starts my hair around after 1. I was so hurt and disappointed for some reason and cried (pms lol). She didn't do the hairstyle I requested either so I did a chargeback refund because she wasted my time and charged me wayyyy to much for a terrible job. She couldn't even look at me when she asked me to pay $100. The ambiance of the salon was terrible. Children ran around coming towards me screaming and distracting her from doing my hair. NEVER AGAIN!

It really is. A lot of stylish get mad about people taking advice from YouTube and online forums but they left us with no choice.
