Where do you ladies who have houseplants buy cheap planters other than the thrift store?

The thrift store home section is always picked over near me. Ive been there many many times and I have yet to find any decent planters.

I’d prefer heavier ones and not anything like these plastic ones they sell at Target:

To me these look cheap. I don’t need them to have drain holes since I have them in nursery pots inside the planter and the nursery pots already have holes. Just looking for some cute and colorful pots that have some weight to them.

I think because of COVID planters are flying off the shelves. More people are looking for things to do. I had ordered these beautiful gold ones from zara Home but unfortunately they never arrived to me and I had to file a claim to get my money back. They were expensive.

Home Depot’s website has a lot of the popular planter styles at low prices.

I've been going with Home Depot (online and in-store) and Amazon over the past year. Good selection and prices.

Aside from the big box stores, dollar stores and retail discounters (TJ Maxx, etc.) I get them from local swap meets or from the flower district in downtown LA.

Ross usually has a good selection around this time of year. If you have an Ollie's store in your area they are also a good resource.

I keep them in cheaper plastic pots for drainage and put that pot in a decorative pot. Decorative pots typically have poor drainage and while you can make holes, it's easier if the plants grow out of the pot.

If you really wanna be on trend mix minimalism with maximalism. Instead of perfect white planters or whatever’s in catalogs. Instead try using a stone pitcher or a beautiful bowl or really anything get creative.

TJ Maxx: I usually see 6"-7" pots going for $8 and 7"-9" pots going for $10.

Home Depot/Lowes: Great for small pots 6" and under and clay pots all sizes. I personally think they can be a bit overpriced for the non-terracotta pots.

Walmart: Great for all sizes and nearly all the pots come with holes

I got a steal at RiteAid last year. Three, yes 3, pots for $16 dollars. It was a carved 3-piece set. Bought it late spring.

Hobby Lobby has lovely decor pots.

Other than that you can try apps like OfferUP, Mecari and others.

Legit, we've been doing this during Covid. It's whatever "holds" and easy ins/outs. At one point, the kids went around the neighborhood asking for the clay pots most folks discard. We had a painting, cement, texture party and used those.
