One of my favourite ensembles.

Whitney Houston wears Marc Bouwer velvet gown with satin collar and cuffs.

She was plain beautiful and iconic not just on the mic, but in the clothes!

"Mel B, Scary Spice, Pays Homage With a Swimsuit Identical To That of Whitney Houston"

September 25, 2016 Glamour (Magazine) Portugal

Melanie Brown, also known as Mel B, and also, Scary Spice, paid homage on Sunday (25) to singer Whitney Houston. She published on Instagram a montage with a picture of the singer and another one of her. They both wear identical white swimsuits.

Whitney Houston died on February 11, 2012 at the age of 48.

In the caption of the post, Mel B wrote: "By my pool Sending love up to a legend" ("In my pool sending love to the sky for a legend").

Yeah, I can’t control myself so I’m going to bump this thread…

Well, this topic came to mind because I am currently practicing mock interview questions for a fashion store I indent on applying to, and one question came up: “What celebrity represents our brand?”

This took my mind back to a time I was at the mall, and as I passed up Giorgio

Armani (not the particular store), I saw all four dresses on the window display that screamed “Whitney Houston”. Goodness gracious! I’ve never seen a brand that just got her type so accurately and I know this is unintentional on their part but by Jove, it’s impressive. I would have loved Whitney to try on some of their clothes if she was alive.

Anyway, here are some dresses. What do you think? Or am I just overreacting? Also, what other dresses or outfits do you think would have suited Whitney?

Ps. I must also ass that mink suits looked so good on her. Like a poster said preciously, “she looked regal”

Fantastic thread! I love the way the fashion industry lined up to dress her.
She was a designers dream, knew how to "wear clothing" and always always benefited the sponsor...Also that she didn't mind keeping and wearing the same clothing again and again... Yellow jacket!!

EVERYTHING YOU'VE SAID... PERFECT!

Especially "She was a designers dream..."

Not true! Whitney said she liked and was comfortable in jeans and gowns! If she didn't like the gowns no way she would have looked so natural and comfortable in them. In her book Dionne said young Whitney was a tomboy who enjoyed playing sports with her brothers and cousins but she also loved soft silky materials and sparkly stuff. Whitney spoke of the thrill she had watching her cousin Dionne get dressed for her shows as a child. Many of Whitney's gowns were very similar to the ones Dionne wore in the 60's. In fact she did wear one of her gowns. Whitney also liked modeling, she said "I loved the camera and the camera loved me". Y'all need to stop acting as if Whitney was just some puppet or Barbie doll project of Clives. She was a woman who had been around glitz and glamour her entire life, and could count elegant, classy women like Diahann Carroll and Leslie Uggams as family friends. Whitney came to Clive as a successful model and veteran singer/performer.

Yet Clive gets credited for everything she already was before he signed her. She may have been more comfortable in jeans but she looked so good in gowns. She knew that too....

Her mother taught [and showed] her that before Whitney even knew Clive's name.

She was sophisticated beyond her years, that’s why Clive was so impressed.
Trolls act like Whitney only started dressing up after she signed with Arista.

The dresses/ gowns became more tailored/ fashionable as a superstar but she’s always dressed up.

Random but
Love this bathing suit: her whole ensemble was cute BTW

Clive said he didnt have time for those types of details lol. IDK why people think that MAN didnt have more going on in his life as it was than worring about somebody's clothes and wigs. THIS was not a Motown type situation!
Plus Whitney has said that her and her mother would get into it about Cissy dressing her up all the time! But hey trolls and haters gonna do what they do tho lmao! Screw 'em lol.

one of my favorite pictures, not necessarily about style but she’s serving face. Her face was everything. Clive Davis couldn’t create this perfect face with all the money in the world

That's right! I appreciate that she didnt Really try to be 'young/trendy' or revert back image wise as she got older. It's so embarrassing when women do that. She stayed the course and got even more on her grown lady.

I was watching a Cosby show re-run yesterday [episode 'Home For the Weekend'] and the show's 'fashionista' Denise aka Lisa Bonet was wearing a familiar top...

...gee I wonder where they got that idea from lol??? This eppy aired a month or two after Whitney's video.
