i liked monica's singing voice more, but brandy's album had more songs that were hot. so i'll have to say brandy.

ETA: scratch that... now that i look at the tracklist... monica had a lot of good songs on that cd!

Monica, no question. I wore Miss Thang out and to this day I can listen to that album from start to finish without skipping any songs.

I can't choose because I love them both; infact, Miss Thang was the first album I purchased EVER for myself with my little babysitting money. I was a die-hard Brandy fan all through my teenage years. The album Brandy was a birthday present...I was 11. Good times! I can't, sorry.

I love both of them and they stay in heavy rotation even now....but I'm going with Monica.

It's hard to believe they were both so young sounding like this.

And this is one of my favorite songs ever.

What's interesting is that Brandy's 1st album has sold more than all of Monica's albums combined.

monicas voice > brandy

Brandy sales >>>>> Monica sales.

OP, this is a subjective question. If you really want to know whose album was better then I suggest you look at whose album appealed to most, so much so that they moved the most units. Brandy is still eating of that first album, Monica isn't off hers.

Damn that's crazy, Brandy sold 6 mills of that album. And all of mobica's combined has been like over 5 million

Brandy. Monica's debut was good but Brandy is on another level.

On the topic of sales, Brandy got a lot more exposure than Monica did. Brandy's music had crossover appeal and she had Moesha to help. I remember her promoting a couple of her songs on that show.

Even though Brandy is/was a little more versatile than Monica is, Monica could've probably sold just as much if not more than Brandy had she had the same oppurtunities thrown her way.

I doubt it. Monica was a one trick pony and had no crossover appeal so had she be given a show it still would have fallen flat.

Once you have heard one Monica song you have basically heard them all. Monica is today coasting on the "The boy is mine" success which Brandy put her on. Had Brandy had enough confidence in her own success she would never have shared some of her shine with Monica because now some (including mo) are delusional in thinking that her success was ever on the same level as Brandy's.

But who gives a fµck about sales as far as what you enjoy more? Brandy could have sold a hundred mil and I wouldn't give a damn because, as far as quality, I prefer Mo's.

Sales matter because then it means a lot more people have appreciated the music that Brandy put out back then as opposed to Monica's.

Stop. There have been plenty of albums that have sold millions but lack quality. If it was that simple, I would've never made this thread.

Brandy was marketed to appeal to the Pop crowd. She was the "Girl Next Door"whereas Monica was "Miss Thang" and Aaliyah was the "Tom Boy".

Brandy's team's mission was to make her a pop crossover success. So of course she sold more. Stop undermining Monica's success. She was successful as well.

None of that sh!t matters today as both are in the same boat as far as sales and popularity go.
