Meaning that even into adulthood being recognized and being known is very important, even more so then tangible things like real power/assets/community relationships.
But you have none of those things either? And you aren’t famous or popular?Meaning that even into adulthood being recognized and being known is very important, even more so then tangible things like real power/assets/community relationships.
Because they can't get any of those things and only have themselves to blame for it. They too busy begging for hand outs and chasing coattails.Meaning that even into adulthood being recognized and being known is very important, even more so then tangible things like real power/assets/community relationships.

I don’t think this is solely a black men thing.
Social media has changed what a lot of people consider normal and has brought a whole new meaning to “Keeping up with the Joneses”.
I see a lot of women on social media trying to glow up, marry up, be at every turn up, and flex 24/7 via social media.True. But I notice with my female peers there becomes a point where they check out from the need to appear a certain way both online and in real life. I know men who won't post on socials but will leave themselves with two pennies to rub together at the end of the month just so they can lease a fancy car and have the latest gadgets. We all like nice things, sure, but many men never seem to grow out of wanting the biggest TV, the updated games console, the smartest smart phone.
Not just black men though.
Thank you.I don’t think this is solely a black men thing.
