In NYC when you order Chinese food from a lot of these restaurants and even pizza, the delivery tell you to come downstairs and pick up the food.

Then when you don't hand them a too they ask and get upset.

My neighbor ordered pizza and the Yemeni man delivering didn't want to come upstairs. He kept saying he should come down. My neighbor told him to take it back.

We were talking about it and I said I feel they do that cause we are black. They don't do that in white neighborhoods (they think blacks steal their bikes or motorcycles).

And the Yemeni wanted a tip too. So he called someone else who delivered upstairs to his apartment door and he tipped him.

So do you tip or say fµck it nah?!

I just don’t answer my phone when they call and that forces them to come up. They’re not gonna risk it coming out their paycheck if u call and complain to store about u didn’t get ur food. Or on Grubhub/seamless select tip in cash. That usually motivates them

This reminds me of this one time I ordered pizza and had added the tip while I was ordering. An hour after I had said that I wanted it delivered, it still wasn't there, so I had called the spot. At first they tried to say that I never ordered and then they were like "oh, dude just came back from your delivery, it's in the lobby." My job doesn't have a fµck!ng lobby. He left that sh!t in the little ass room between the outside door and inside door on top of the ice salt. I was so sh!tty. I never ordered from there again.

I would have asked for a refund. Damn that.

dinosaur bbq man called me to meet him downstairs. I ignored the calls hoping he's get so frustrated that he'd just come up. This guy made the door man call me to tell me to come down. I was so pissed. I gave a tip only because other people were watching.

I once had a Chinese delivery man throw my food out of his moving car. I called grubhub and got my money back - it was outrageously disrespectful. Not only did I have to come out of my building, I had to catch my food. I don't pre-tip now.

He wouldn’t have gotten a tip. I would have said I don’t want the food and reversed the charge lol.

Unfortunately I tip on the apps before it gets there, but this happens with the Chinese food restaurants I order from. I live in a house and they will park in the driveway and call the phone saying food is here, expecting me to go to the car. Might start rethinking the tip tho

Sounds like here. I ordered some food and this young cat delivering it parked half a block away, called me and told me to come to the car. Lazy bastard. I didn't give him jack...

F*ck No! Ny MF's expect you to tip for everything, like why would I tip the car, when I had to load my own luggage, into, and OUT of the car!? b!tch No! :emoji_rage: I cannot STAND people that , A: Demand/Expect tips or B: Expect a tip to do a plain service that's a part of their job description. No thank you, I don't think so. Tips are for outstanding service, or a gesture of extra appreciation. Ughhh. I could go on all day...just, the sheer audacity of it all! Lol.

its not that far to walk, small building with plenty of parking.no excuse whatsoever for them not to do their job & in la the weather is perfect 90% of the time.

i order food to not have to walk or interact with a billion different people so that $5 i was going to give comes back to me because i had to do the "work"

eta:i had one fool sit in his car a block away & expected me to find him.i contacted cs & they said he said he delivered it with no problem.they were acting like i was the one lying & 2 days later they delivered my order for "free"

The only time I was willing to meet someone is when my friend had cupcakes delivered to my house and the lady was in a walking boot. She hobbled up my stairs and rang my doorbell and even brought them inside for me.

Why u in the front tho??? When they hear that I’m a woman they will come round back tho but still lol! One black delivery guy said he’s not getting outta his car till he sees me at the back door at night ... Really bruh!? I don’t even live in the hood. Ok w.e. then, I just want my grub lol! I always tip for the convenience :)

I'd send it back. In the UK/Europe, we don't have the tipping culture like the US. So servers/delivery people don't automatically expect a tip. I usually tip because I appreciate it's a thankless job they do, but not if they annoy me.

Girl them Americanized towns be expecting a tip though. I was in another country where they don’t tip and I was getting my hair trimmed. I told the lady what I wanted done. Simple, take a flat iron to my hair, because I had the ponytail bump, and trim straight across. She started to just cut. I hopped up from that chair so fast and went explained it again. She finally did what I asked her to do and they tried to charge me like $20. The trim was like $12 so I said um no ma’am. She was trying to give herself an $8 tip. They were like it’s for the flatiron. I said I was quoted that and the trim included the flatiron how else would you trim hair? I was charged $12.

I get really mad when they call and say got to the lobby cause that requires me to get semi presentable which at that point I could have went and got the food myself.

I hate when they be like they don’t know how to find it. Like you know darn well that the first number is the floor and after that go in numerical order.

Yeah they tried that in restaurants, I remember them adding gratuity fee onto receipts but they were stopped. Now they give the option to say yes or no when paying for anything.

On a funny note, I remember visiting the US as a yungin and whenever we went somewhere, we basically mortified family living there by paying what the bill stated. It was so confusing, you pay for something, have to do mathletics to add taxes, and then tipping on top?!

I like that the vat is included in the posted price in Europe. Makes life simple.

I never really have this issue bc I live in a house and have a driveway. So I'm apart of the minority bc they park and walk to the door. But I have had guys not even want to get out the car. Like really. Another person parked way down the street so I met him bc he was lost and I wanted my food. It is gettin harder to want to pretip bc you are getting ppl who work for the app, not the restaurant, so u are getting a random person, not the delivery boy who actually works there, always goes to your house. Very impersonal than how it used to be.

The thought of them messing up my delivery is why I stopped adding the tip while ordering. Now, they don't get the tip until they darken my doorstep. :arrogant
